OK I searched but no------

Installed front locker and changed to 4.10. Went to re attach the drive shaft to tcase and when I turned the input shaft it felt and sounded like a bad bearing. Got the nut off but can't get the bearing out. Help!

There is a snap ring that holds it in. Did you get that out?

I got mine out with the case split, but it should be possible to do it without pulling the case apart. I don't remember, but I can look.

I just looked in the manual. There is a snap ring that fits in a grove in the extension housing and holds the outer rim of the bearing. Then the manual shows you pressing the bearing out, but I remember I just drove it out from behind. It may not be possible if the output shaft is in place.

You can't take out the front bearing without splitting the case.

Thanks dyno. I really needed that. Had it sitting on the floor 2 weeks ago for a rear freeze plug replace. Didn't cross my mine to check the front shaft.

cruiserdrew - got the snap ring out but it looked hopeless from there. When dyno posted that the case had to be split I pretty much felt that coming.

Thanks guys. Bill

You can split the case without removing the trans. It is a little awkward but very doable. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Thanks. Had the whole works on the floor 2 weeks ago. Never had a front bearing go out so didn't cross my mind to check it.

what about the output bearing? can you get that without splitting the case.
