I’m just finishing rebuilding a 3sp TC with new bearings. Thanks to the FSM and this site, everything has gone pretty well so far.
Rookie question on measuring bearing preload. You are measuring the resistance it takes to break friction not the resistance once the output shaft is turning…right?
Also, I read in a couple of posts that output bearing preload is 10-20 in-lbs for the Orion. Is this also the case for a stock transfer case? The FSM uses the spring gauge (lbs) but I would rather use my dial torque meter as opposed to my $10 fish scale.
Thanks
