Up for sale is this unicorn: RHD import from Japan. 85,000 miles. Manual lockers. 5 spd 1HZ with turbo. The engine seized during the 2 mile drive after turbo install due to the oil line falling off.
The paint is a 6. 4" life OME. Hutchison wheels and 35" Maxis tires. Sunroof works. Brand new drivers side switch for windows and PDL. New condenser. AC is ice cold. Brand new Scheel mann seats. New gauges for the turbo. No rust other then the small area shown. Knuckles just rebuilt. Touch screen Panasonic, amp and woofer. 24v system. ARB air pump. New winch. ARB bumpers. Rear wiper is gone. Very clean interior and headliner. With the sale is over $1500 in parts including nearly all hoses, new brake pads, both visors, rubber wheel well trim, caps, door hinge, belts, spare wiper control unit, filters etc. New license plate box. All lights, markers, interior, license, brake lights upgraded to LED. Upgraded headlights in box.

She drove fine up until the event. I am in line for a new block but shop says maybe December.

This is a fantastic vehicle, very rate and clean. It would cost you about $5k to rebuild the motor. The crank will not move. The bebs do not look bad though.

I am asking $35,000. With the new motor she would easily be a 45-50k vehicle.

Do you have an actual quote to rebuild the engine ? Am I reading t correctly in that you ran it without oil till it seized solid ?

I have a quote for a new shortblock. Someone could rebuild it for less. The oil was full. After idling in the driveway and revving for a few minutes. I checked for leaks. None. So I drove it toward the exhaust shop for the final piece to the turbo install. The turbo oil supply line somehow fell off. There is no low oil shutoff or alarm. I did not notice the oil pressure dropping. Once I felt something was odd, it was too late. She seized. Upon inspection, the crank would not turn but the lower bearings do not look bad.

Make me an offer if you are interested.
I think you will find that your $35k with a blown engine is way to high for people to offer you what they think it is worth. I get it you have a heap of bolt ons and the car looks sweet but no way in hell are you getting a rebuilt 1HZ drive in drive out of any shop I have ever worked at for $5k in a 30 year old imported vehicle where some parts will kick you ass and block a lift for weeks .

Even with a rebuilt engine saying its a $40 - $45k truck easily is not really supported by what you see then actually selling for.

Just my opinion but you asked for offers so I would do $20k as the truck looks cool and based on what the market is at these days I figure I would be ll in around $35k which is what I think they are actually worth .

Thank you. I will reach out if 20k seems to be all I can get. The quote from Cruiser Matt's in Orlando is 9-10k for a new short block swap/installed.

The "bolt" on mods are worth more than $15k alone.

5 New Wheels and Tires, OME lift, front and rear bumper, new winch, new exhaust, new turbo and brand new seats ($4750). The body is in excellent shape and only one minor 2"x3" rust spot at front right fender.

The interior is in outstanding shape as well. Locked and all power door locks, windows and sunroof work fine. At 85,000 miles, I feel the whole package is quite a rare find in this condition.

No rush to sell, I will eventually be up for the new engine, then she will be for sale at a higher price.

Message me if you are a serious buyer, with a serious offer. Thank you.

Cost and worth is a funny thing. I have guys who will spend $40k on mods to a $10k truck but would never spend $30k on a truck that has the same mods... makes no sense.

Either way for a fully rebuilt 1HZ with your new turbo fiited and a warranty etc I would take that deal, get it done and then list it with fully rebuilt engine and all your other stuff you will get way more $$$ than getting a buyer with a blown motor to take on the risk themselves.

I am impressed you found a shop to do the work and warranty the turbo on the 1HZ in the USA, the 1HZ turbo thing has a lot of opinions and most shops won't touch it

Mods typically count for a small fraction of their original cost in a resale, it's simply the reality here. For 70s this seems to be even more true just from my observation. 70s prices seems rather inelastic.

Even if this truck is in otherwise good condition, it's currently in a "project" status without a working engine, but the asking price here is not a "project" price. A buyer taking on the project involves risk and probably a good amount of legwork, and that will factor into a buyers mind as well. So the logic of "This truck would be worth $X but it needs $Y work done so I'll sell it for $X-$Y and that's fair" falls apart. You might get more out of it in a working state with the new engine and then selling it.

Just being honest, I think it will be a cool truck for whoever gets it up and running.

Thanks. Looking for more shops to rebuild engine.

Should have taken my $20k offer with the blown engine and I should have paid attention to BAT ... damn Auctions
