Went camping and backed the tailpipe into a rock. The tailpipe bent in 5-6”. There are a couple things I’m not sure how to fix.

1. Exhaust mounts are not lined up correctly. I replaced the exhaust mount in the that’s under the back seat but its not lining up right. The exhaust mount in the back is off set 5-6 inches and it’s pretty hard to get mounted on by hand. How can I get it mounted? And even if I do, there will be so much tension on the mount it’ll probably break.

2. The whole exhaust may be bent I think, based on seeing the exhaust mounts not aligned. Not sure how to fix this? Maybe use bailing wire and it’ll start to bend back into place? But not sure how to tighten the bailing wire? Not even sure if that will make it bend back into place.

Have done the :hillbilly: fix a couple of times. Attach a strap to the resonator and pull it back, combined with ratchet straps from the frame, etc, as needed, have resulted in "straight enough". Tail pipe into the ground damage is pretty common, on wheeling rigs, we cut the resonator section off and add a mount, solves that problem.

Do you use the straps to put it in place..then how does it stay put after you remove them? The tension on the mounts will be pretty bad and probably tear the rubber pretty quickly.

Last time I got hung up on the exhaust (loop under frame just aft of the cats), I bent the y-pipe so badly it was not reusable :hillbilly:

Replaced the y-pipe and did a tight wind of bailing wire on remaining busted mounts, and it's holding fine a year and a half later, but I just ordered new isolators/hangers to see if I can get it to line up for real.

Used the straps to bend the exhaust enough that the mounts lined up.

You could try clearancing the muffler so you hit it less. While you’re at it, paint your lower links red, it’s more racecar.
