My favorite place has always been in a messenger bag or motorcycle saddle bag strapped to the vehicle seatback or headrest. I try really hard to not leave guns in vehicles; it’s been mentioned earlier they are easy targets. Also get rid of all your firearms related stickers or self defense related stickers. Don’t stick out.

That being said, I’m in Texas, nuff said.

The way I look at it your typical thief is going to do $1-2k damage to your vehicle to steal a $500 gun if you install any locking mechanism.

I’d choose an ARB drawer over most anything else. Come to think of it I’ve never seen a thief open a rear tool compartment.

5% tint in the rear and 20% front goes a long way.

This place is awesome. @Bullgump The 15.25 x 25 Panel fits the 200 great.

Perfect. Thanks. Used a similar plastic organizer in my patrol car back in the gap. Kept paperwork etc but also a five shot .38 in it for quick access. And I chuckled when I saw the shotgun. Nothing says hello and gtfoh at the same time like the sound of buck/slugs being racked into a shotgun.

Rant on...I carry and am all for it but if anyone is gonna carry, for God's sake go take some handgun fighting instruction. Learn that weapon using both hands. Muscle memory when under stress will save your life. Punching holes in a paper target is not training. Learn how to fight with it. Be ready to fight with it. And pray you never have to fight with it...rant off.

There seems to be a large enough cavity in the rear arm rest that you could create a locking case to install into it. The LX570 uses a similar arm rest with a storage box inside.
Seems to be large enough to store a pistol covertly.
Also, the front armrest looks like it can be made to store a pistol in the top half.
The third row rear seat-backs could also be used, one has a zipper to store the headrest but the others could be converted and the hollow space used with a zipped cover to look OEM but have enough room to store an SBR or several pistols.
Perhaps a pullout slim drawer under the driver and passenger seat that uses the stock plastic facing but has a drawer to carry a pistol for temp storage if you have to make a short trip somewhere that you can't carry like a federal building or bank.

I’ve tried a few bags... nothing seems fast/consistent enough. Messenger bag straps always get in the way..

I dont really have a use for any sort of "safe" in my 200, as my gun is either in the vehicle while driving, on my person, or in the house.... I dont care for the idea of "storing" a gun in a safe inside the truck.

With that being said, the current setup that Im running is a right hand draw Safariland ALS holster wedged into the drivers door pocket cupholder, with a CAT tourniquet setup in the main pocket of the door pocket behind the gun. The Safariland fits in the cupholder pretty well, and has enough retention that I can activate the thumb release and full grip while the gun is in the holster.

I used to keep the Safariland in the refrigerator portion of the center console, but opening the lid, and then having the whole holster flopping around in the cooler was less than ideal. I think something that I would be interested in would be some sort of insert for the cooler, but molded so that I could run my holster vertically and secured. Some sort of foam block with a cut out for the holster to slide into and stay secure could probably work.

Anything designed as a "safe" for just the gun without a holster is an accident waiting to happen in a vehicle IMO.
Pics?

I don't keep a handgun in the vehicle, but given the comments about hip and shoulder holsters, was curious if you've tried a Kenai chest holster (gunfighters, inc). I picked one up and like the way it carries. It doesn't interfere with shoulder straps so you can wear a pack, and is out of the way for casting, while still keeping your handgun in a convenient draw position.
I own a few Kenais for various pistols as they work great while carrying a pack or wearing waders. Great product.

This is how I carry my setup when I’m on the vehicle. Note, I carry on my person everywhere so I don’t ever have a need to leave my gun in the vehicle. This is what works for me, and is purely a “comfort” and ease of access solution.

The G-19 is riding in a Safariland ALS on a UBL mount, so it requires the thumb lever to be released to remove it from the holster. The CAT TQ is riding in an 11-10 TQ holster that is wedged in the door pocket so that the TQ can be ripped out with one hand leaving the holster behind.

I’ll bite my tongue about all you guys out in the burbs and the country riding around like there’s something for you to be scared of. Cracks me up.

I live in the heart of the city and rarely carry for a lot of the same reasons people have already listed in this thread. When I do, my pistol is on my person or in the map pocket in my door. I get very upset when people leave firearms in their vehicles. Gun crimes are almost always committed with stolen guns. I don’t care how dark your windows are, don’t be a dumb ass and leave guns in your cruiser unattended. Period.

Except you didn’t bite your tongue.

My shotgun stays in my truck and easily accessible for stray dogs, snakes, coyotes, etc. My windows are blacked for lots of different reasons.

I carry. Always. Not because i want to use my sidearm. I carry because I refuse to be an easy victim IF the situation ever arises.

Sorry you get upset that i leave at least two firearms in my truck at all times. Also sorry that you have to worry about that type stuff in the ‘heart of the city’. Because i sure as hell don’t have to worry about anyone breaking into my truck where i live.

Happy new year.

I don’t worry about a thing. Happy New Year Brother.

I wanted to gauge interest in tactical accessories for your 200. Where do you conceal in your vehicle when not on your person? What is the ideal location for driver (right handed? left handed?)

We have a relationship with a local tactical/machine shop owner who happens to be a 200-guy. They do a lot of custom stuff and I’m interested to get some feedback to him so we can get some practical products made for y’all.
Make molle panels for the lower sides of the console like victory 4x4 does for the 4Runner and I would buy a set as well as a plug and play lock box for the cool box.

@Eric Sarjeant (not tactical) but saw the install on @TRAIL TAILOR tailgate storage and thought with some foam would be nice lockable shotgun storage for hunting / range days
