@Eric Sarjeant (not tactical) but saw the install on @TRAIL TAILOR tailgate storage and thought with some foam would be nice lockable shotgun storage for hunting / range days
I’ll bite my tongue about all you guys out in the burbs and the country riding around like there’s something for you to be scared of. Cracks me up.
I live in the heart of the city and rarely carry for a lot of the same reasons people have already listed in this thread. When I do, my pistol is on my person or in the map pocket in my door. I get very upset when people leave firearms in their vehicles. Gun crimes are almost always committed with stolen guns. I don’t care how dark your windows are, don’t be a dumb ass and leave guns in your cruiser unattended. Period.
The Trail Tailor solution looks very interesting. A drawer system works incredibly well for stowing a rifle, plate carrier, IFAK, and other essentials. Even so, I'm with many others in strongly encouraging people against keeping a firearm in the vehicle overnight or when the vehicle is not in a secure location.
For those that live in urban areas with very high crime, a holster mount point between the drivers legs and the center console is ideal for storing a pistol in an accessible location while the vehicle is in use.
A surface mounting option to store a rifle or shotgun on the tailgate (exposed, not inside the tailgate) would be useful for those that spend a lot of time off the beaten path. It wouldn't need to be complicated - just a reliable mount that would keep an AR or shotgun secured and easily accessible.
Here is a carbon fiber molle panel made in Noblesville, IN. Also comes in aluminum. Self tapping screw should hold about 2 lbs, if installed with machine screws and nuts, probably 50lbs. Passenger side is coming soon. I’ll follow up with a link to purchase soon. I’ll also make a video on my YouTube channel (Ed Martin Toyota)

Sweet. That would have a ton of uses outside of firearms, Eric. I'd attach an Inreach, radio and maybe use it as a mounting point for a RAM ball on the PS. You should market it accordingly!

Nah. It's called math and acceptable risk. I'm not knocking anyone who chooses to carry all the time and thereby mitigate that probability but delivering a blanket statement calling folks who choose not to "naive" is just lazy.
Do you take vitamins everyday? Do you wear a helmet when you walk down the street? Is all of your clothing FR rated? Did you get vaccinated against polio? Do you wear a seat belt?
Math, probability and acceptance of risk relative to your own position. That's all.

Everything you just said is exactly correct. I agree 100% with every word of it.
The glaring problem that this presents when it applies to gun ownership and concealed carry, however, is that a significant percentage of those who chose to accept that risk seem to think they are entitled to force their views and preferences onto those of us who don’t...via different flavors of gun control. Ironically they don’t worry about criminals who own guns. Just guys like me.

Lol! Yes I do to most of what you said, expect I only wear a helmet when cycling, skiing or rock climbing. I didn’t mean everyone should carry a gun. In fact many should not unless they have proper training and practice at least a couple times a month, so they are not a bigger danger to the public.
R, got you covered on this. Just need a pic and dimensions of what you need cut in. @ZRTactical will cut with the fancy laser and it will fit like a glove.
Anyone have a good option for inside the tailgate? I haven't found a good foldable or compact long gun combo That I thought would work well from a fit and gun perspective.
I like the mock up you did, I just like to keep anything tactical hidden.
Also if anyone wants to see if a firearm fits somewhere, let me know I may have it or have access easily.

This is ICON 4X4 solution for Rogans 80 series.
