The bumper on my 1998 Tacoma has a tear in the plastic cover, right above the tow hook. What is the best way to patch this up, isn't there some kind of glue that will help patch it up? I've heard of people fiber glassing the back sides of them...

I patched up my wifes bumper with some 2 part epoxy and window screen from the back side. Scratch up the pack side good so it'll stick.

I think I am going to give that a try, what kind of epoxy did you use? What did you use to hold things together while drying? Would Duct tape work for this?

In any auto parts store or hardware store they should have a selection of epoxys, just get one for plastics. I used some pieces of wood and some spring clamps, but I had some serious work to do on my bumper. You may get away with leaving it on the truck if it's not too hard to get to. And clean the area well too.

***update***

I got the epoxy and screen window mesh on, and the bumper is patched up, but because of how it tore, it was hard to keep it aligned while it was setting, so it's not seamless now. In a few days i'll sand off the excess epoxy and i'll touch up that area with some gray bumper paint. It won't looked perfect, but it will look much better than before...

The bumper didn't hold up, so looks like I need to find a differnt epoxy, Auto Zone had some stuff that is black, In fact I think it might even be for bumpers, i'll check it out tomorrow.

I pop riveted the bumper back together a few nights ago, and it is holding up very well. With the black bumper paint , can't tell it was damaged until a few feet away...

I'll be happy if it holds together until I can afford an ARB bumper, which I hope will be sometime in the next year or so :D
