I need one. what do y'all recommend? Placement? I want something clean looking as an install. I have a 77'.

I'd recommend doing an advance search in the 40 and 55 section for the word "tachometer", you'll find a wealth of info in the archives.

From what I've read, the F motor redlines just over 4k rpm so a 0-6k tach is probably best. My uncle just gave me an old Sunpro 0-8k tach that I'll be installing, I can't complain, it was free.

see pics in link in my sig line

Get a Autometer, i put mine on my roll bar, it worked out well, no more holes in dash .. ;)

Easy install too ...

SOR has the OEM tachometers, they look pretty sharp.

A few people have dome them and there is a thread or two on restoration of the OEM tachs.

I pulled the OEM gauge cluster and did a full swap, workie for me:meh:

there is so much of this topic already in these threads, do the search and be happy.

i've included a pic of mine, that will only improve once they are in to humor your thread..

now, to cut or not to cut, that is the question!

I am wanting an OEM. Where can I get one? I did a search for Tachometers and saw where someone had an OEM Tach or made it look OEM. Loved it! So, where can I get one?

Prolly wouldn't be too hard to find one from a 60 series and make a bezel to hold it. That would be Toyota and look pretty stock. Least that's what my thoughts have been.

I picked one of those up out of the FS section for something like 25 bucks. Don't know when I'm gonna get around to installing it, but it's 'on the list!'

Best
