So my t vent just blew. happened as I pulled in to home luckily. I had just bought the replacement T and the hose clamp and have them sitting here waiting for a free weekend to change them out. Any advice? Try to pull the remainder of the old vent out of the hose?

Go buy new hoses. If the T was old enough to blow, the hoses are probably junk.

That's probably a good idea. Thanks

Notice that the T snapped at all 3 hoses at the same time. I didn't break any part of it off. Is that what happens when these things go?

Another dumb question... when I start the truck, shouldn't I expect coolant to be flowing out the hose? Tank is full of coolant.

Easiest if you get clamps and hoses from the dealer.

The tank is just radiator overflow, the system capacity is around 16 Quarts. You should see your radiator is full (not just the overflow tank) before you attempt to run it. If those just blew you're going to need to fix it then top off the radiator with the correct mixture of Toyota coolant before you attempt to start or run it. Then after running it and allowing it to cool you'll probably have to top it off a time or two.

You can still use the hoses and clamps. I did in my 225K mile truck with no issues.

If you plan to get new hoses, be very careful when removing the hoses attached to the heater core end. If you damage the tubes, you have to remove the entire dash to fix it.

Go to Home Depot and just buy the brass 1/2" TEES they will work just fine.

Yeah good call I checked mine and they seemed brittle and showing signs of deterioration after 185,000 miles
Toyota had them in stock 15 bucks each
When I removed the old ones they fell apart as soon as I backed off the clamps
Well past their service life

Good piece of mind for 30 bucks

Thanks for everyones help with this. As a follow up... I replaced the hoses and heater Ts, went with the metal ones. But after replacing I noticed that the temp gauge was still running very hot. After some diagnosis it turns out that my thermostat was bad. I ordered a new one and replaced it. Problem solved. I suspect that the faulty thermostat led to the ultimate failure of my heater Ts. In the process of installing the new thermostat I discovered that the Fan Clutch seems to be bad. The fan spins by hand with the motor off. The fan seems to run just fine when the engine is running. The engine is not over heating. I have ordered a new fan clutch and will be installing that next.
