Call them at 1-800- ask-mobil1, they are very helpful on the phone. I have called them many times and they really know their stuff.

Thanks for the tip. I called them. They advised me to go by the miles, not the time. Extending beyond the 5k-miles was not recommended because of the limited filter capacity, but could be done with their M1 synthetic filters (currently not available in Canada, but will be available soon I was told).

Call me stupid, but..

Are we talking about the regular M1 full synthetic oil or the 15,000 mile extended M1 oil.

That's funny :) There are several UOA on www.bobistheoilguy.com where LC owners went 10K plus miles without a filter change and the UOA stated they could go longer. Interesting that a Mobil 1 advise line would claim they have a "special" filter that goes over 5K miles. Just a observation the dirtier a filter gets the better it filters until it gets so dirty that it goes into bypass mode. Doubt that would happen in a LC engine that had been maintained for over 15K miles. JMHO

Sorry for bringing this thread back from the dead but would there be any actual advantage to going with the extended performance synthetic oil over regular synthetic? I plan on changing at 10K to 12K anyway.

I am right at 70K and am debating going with Royal Purple as well. Any other suggestions or comment about Royal Purple would be welcomed. :)

This is a Mobil 1 oil filter and they should be available at any parts store stocking Mobil 1 oil. Most stores carry Mobil 1...

I run the Mobile 1 (full synthetic) and the M1-209 filter and change every 10k. I can find these parts at almost any parts store. Easy to find stuff, don't know about availability of the other stuff.

I keep enough oil and filters around for an extra couple changes too.

If you are changing at 10k then why run the "extended" interval stuff when the Mobile 1 works well for the 10k? That is my thinking.
