What advantage is there to syn grease?

I went and got some Amsoil HD moly grease for the newfileds.
I was lazy and didn't take apart the steering knuckle and clean out the dino grease out of the knuckle bearings. I did clean out all the grease from the birfield part of the knuckle though.
As the steeings bearins don't do much other than move back and forth, slowly. I don't think there could be much damage to the bearings if the grease doesn't mix. It doesn't look like the grease should mix much anyways.

As the birfield takes a lot of grease, the frozen grease(when its cold out) might turn a bit easier. But does syn wheel bearing grease make any difference?

Actually, the knuckle/kingpin/steering bearings take the brunt of the force. Axle bearings just spin in place with not a LOT of load. Those knuckle bearings support the weight of the front end. Every pot hole, speed bump, and possum gets transmitted through them to the suspension.

ROTFLMFAO

Around here it's rabbits. The little bastiges eat my dang veggie patch and we have a bit of a "contest" to see if I can get them "stuck" in my GY M/T's :flipoff2:

Well knuckle bearings do do a lot. At least they shouldn't mix grease, should they?
They would of been due to be repacked/replaced next year had I not replaced the newfields.
They should be ok till then, I hope????????????

Kidding aside Kurt, I think that if both greases are of a "molly" type I do not believe you should have any trouble. As you have observed, this is very far from a high-speed application.

Let it be said...don't take shortcuts on maintenance that you only have to do right every 60K.

Clean it all to shiney metal, make it pretty, then goop it up and go have a #6.

Sure, you will probably be absolutely fine with your setup, but if someting fails early, you will forever wonder if your decision was the cause

With the old Newfields wearing out at less than 30k, I plan on checking them next spring if not sooner. I then plan on then doing a full axle bearing and seal replacment.
