Wish I was a lawyer now instead of getting ready to start law school. I would own that sweet rig. 17 grand is pricey but the mileage is worth in my opinion. Then again if I was a lawyer making 150k I would probably buy a low mileage 99 cruiser and pay slee to do the solid front axle conversion on it and have one hell of a rig

None the less its cool to see low mileage 80's still. Its like a barn find with out the barn.

I saw that truck too. I'm really not sure it's worth $17k, but I would honestly LOVE to have that truck !! :D

Boy, you dont se many with that low of mileage although I think Brittan has it beat with lower mileage on his 80.

Definetly rare!

I see there was a 97 with 117K on CL last week and they were asking 6600.00. It sold within hours.

It would end up less money to put a Toyota V-8 with a 5 speed in a locked 80.

A Slee solid front axle conversion are said to run ~10K installed:eek:

That's not a 40th, its a collectors edition. Prolly, no lockers. Way to much money IMO.:meh:

These things run forever, I wouldn't pay huge money for low mile 80.:hillbilly::idea:

BrotherRob you are every bit right about 80's lasting forever. My only issue with higher mileage rigs is that everything eventually wears out. That being said a low mileage rig in theory should be in fairly good mechanical condition. Now if the po did not due all the maintenance and services that should be done then you could have a 60 thousand mile rig in horrible condition. My rig has about 215 k on it now. Its in fairly good condition for the most part. Engine is strong and transmission is strong but my xfercase is going out (bad bearings) that being said one of the two previous owners did not treat the xfercase with the same respect as they treated the engine and transmission. My xfercase was the red headed step child. So with a lower mileage rig I would have a better chance of getting all the parts in a near factory working condition. I guess the other side of the argument is I could replace my xfercase with a new one from Mr T. which is going to run me close to 2500 dollars and it would be a lot cheaper than a 17 k low mileage truck. I am by the way saving money so I can buy a new factory xfercase from Mr. T. I figure it will take about a year to save up the money due to life's other expenses. So I guess people just have there preferences about mileage on vehicles. I also by no means am against high mileage vehicles. I own an 85 4runner and I am the second owner. I bought it from my friends mother and she was the original owner. It has 386 k miles on it and I just replaced the engine (spun a bearing) I put around a 150 k on the truck and its in great condition other than a crack in the dash and some clear coat issues. The transmission and all mechanicals are in super shape. I have all the records on the runner going back to 1985. She only took it to the dealership so it was in impeccable shape. So there are some nice rigs with high mileage out there to be had.

All things being equal, lower miles is preferable, but 17k is absurd. I paid 13k for mine with 119k 5 years ago and it was one of the cleanest 80s I've even seen.
You can find a stock 80 in top shape for under 10k these days.
