I was reading the new Toyota Trails issue and read about another Land Cruiser club that organized a parts swap meet combined with a vehicle sorta show and tell. It got me thinking we should try to organize a swap meet car show for the club.

Has HDC ever done this? Would there be interest in trying to put one together this spring maybe? Consider it a spring cleaning and early season hipe event before summer.

If there is interest I would be happy to try and organize it with the help of other interested members.

What are your thoughts.

It would be a great excuse for me to organize unneeded parts to swap or sell!

Yes totally 👍
I brought this up a few years ago and contacted the Land Rover group to see about a joint thing. They had interest but like everything life got busy so it went no where 😖😖😖

And yes HDC did it in the past in like 1997 I think I have physical pics somewhere

Cool, I didn’t expect it was an original idea but worth revisiting. Do you know or recall were that prior event was held?

Ideally we just need a big lot or field preferably with a restroom close by.

Gabe and I have stormed this idea and thought the Historic Ball Park in Madrid would be cool, but most ppl live in ABQ…

I would be up for helping you organize this event and I would definitely help @mesa man clean up our unneeded parts!! Just as long as the date is good for me!

Will you be at the breakfast camp out this weekend? If so, we’ll chat then.

@Mesa Woman Happy to have the help organizing. I consider it could be held in a lot in Jemez Springs too but think it might be best organized around Albuquerque or Santa Fe to get better attendance. Location will have to brain stormed more.

I am not attending the camp mount but my plans are evolving, so I may try to pop in the morning of the breakfast.

I think this would be a great plan. It could also include camping equipment, possibly, too.

I know the location intimately… unfortunately it is no longer available. I THINK another event was done at one of the dealerships later, one of the other old timers might recall.
The location @marcfj60 arranged for the Xmas dinner could work, but not so much for a show. Rust is Gold coffee shop on eubank and roughly Comanche has hosted several events.

What about Traditions outlet mall at Algadones? Or like Santa Fe Outlet Mall where a very small percentage of the parking lot is used for the mall?

Daily Grind dirt lot isn't suitable for this event? It's free and we can grab food and throw lead! 😁

When I was dreaming this up I was thinking something sorta low key but I realizing it will most likely cost money to secure a space. I don’t really want to deal with money such as charging people to attend in any way but it might have to be considered.

@Poupon is there club money that could be used to sponsor such a thing?

I would think that this could quickly out grow the Daily Grind space. I hope slightly that it might attract some other off-road enthusiasts to join. I am not against other makes and models attending.

I really don’t have a specific vision for this but the more I think about the more I recognize it could grow easily.

I see your point of view.

That sentence above should have read, make and models, so I changed it in the original post.

Males and models sounds like a different kind of show.🤣

Uh-oh, I can't remember that location, or even arranging something. Maybe it was @Poupon. You thinking of the Elena Gallegos group site? I do recall organizing something for a summer picnic several years ago at Oak Flats. Some of those sites have some large parking areas where we could put a bunch of trucks and stuff to sell/swap all lined up and still have a fun picnic/gathering too. I haven't driven by it in a few years so I don't know what state it's in. The website is listing it as closed. For those unfamiliar with the location, it's about 10 miles south of I-40 and Tijeras.
