7th is no good for me...:frown:

Next Friday?

haha, yes, thats the key here right, at least one of the three stooges will have to know what they're doing!

Dan....You have some great wrenchin skills...you can do it....lets all call in sick..cough cough and wrench on Friday...

I will be out of town again on Friday...Damn!
Any experts available on the 7th ? If this turns out to be be just for me, i will happily kick down some $$$ for your time. I can take time off during the week also...Next week is bad, but am typically around anytime there after. Thanks again!

Found out late last night that I will probably have a project review on Friday at work. Who picks Friday for stuff like that? Still could call in sick but would definitely be in poor taste if I did. :D

I think the 7th is overall the best day so far, but I don't think Brad is going to make it that day.

Brad, we could do your rig at my house some later time with no problem if you want. I should be all practiced up on springs 'n stuff by then, right?

By the way, selfishly speaking, does anybody have or know where I can borrow/buy/steal the caster bushing tool that Slee sells? ... I know, Slee, but since that's a one-time use tool for most, if there's a lonely one around, sure would be great to get some more life out of it.

I am available on the 7th and would love to help. :hhmm:I can bring tools, floor jack, jackstands, air compressor (only if needed - its heavy) etc. . .

I have one of Slee's bushing tools too (still need to do this myself:doh:)! Has anyone bought the template from Landtank?Landtank's bushing template

I look forward to seeing/meeting you guys.

Just drove up and bought the kit from Man-A-Fre!

Now that I actually put my hands on this stuff it has to go on right away! :D

So what was the problem with next weekend (17/18th)? I'm just really excited to get my first big mod done!

If it's not too late, I really would like to see how this is done. I'm no cruiser expert or guru but I'm not too shaby with tools. Plus, it's always nice to meet new people.

Boyd, would love to have you help. Thanks for the offer of the Slee tool. I pinged Landtank, I don't know how much his caster plate tool is, but I'd up for one by then if it's not too $$. If it is, we could make due somehow with the OME instructions - maybe?

Brad, for me the 17/18th is out for family deals. Promised we'd go to the Armed Forces Day parade in Torrance this year, among other misc stuff.

Arvin, never too late, come on down (I speak for SoCal_80 here!) you can have my beer - the more the merrier. More bodies to cushion the 'cruiser when it falls off the jackstands  (j/k ...safety #1)

Landtank is out of the templates until next week, already pm'd him ;) They're only $10, so I'd say its worth it

Great. I'll probably have pissed him off for asking

So, another reason the 17th won't work?

Brad, did you get the caster bushings? 3 of us with bushing replacement to do?
- me
- Boyd
- Brad (?)

I'll gladly pop for the template, don't mind waiting if next weeks a reality.

Yep, I got the OME caster bushings. Just opened up all my boxes to double check everything is there and I'm good to go. Coils, shocks, caster bushings and steering stabilizer.

Here's a bunch of info on the template:

Boydmick looks like he is in for the 7th, anyone else ???? Did i mention FREE :beer::beer: ? Free beer aside, i am looking forward to meeting you guys and getting back into having some fun offroad!

Count me in on the 7th.

7th is good for me.

Yes I'm still selling them. Currently I'm out of stock on OME templates but will have more by the end of next week. They are 10.00 and I take payment via paypal to Landtank@comcast.net.

I'll get one from him today or tomorrow. hehe, 3 pair of bushings for the price of one. I love it.

Yeah I’m in Torrance and could help out, I’ve used the Slee instructions and only takes few hours on the 3 or so I’ve done with the right tools:
Slee - OME Suspension Installation (Toyota 80 Series Land Cruiser)

Pressing those bushings out takes a strong press, when I did mine my neighbors didn’t cut it and I ending up going to a tire shop and giving them a $20 to get them out but then again I did'nt have the slee tool so that should help a bunch.

One thing to get checked after is you alignment mine was off and so was the other truck I helped on.

Kids have some ball games early on the 17th but I could make it ~ noon so let me know.

Brian

Thanks Calfj60! Have you replaced springs in a 80 before ? Do I/we need a coil spring compressor to remove and or install the new springs ? Like i said before, i will have room for (2) more cruisers if anyone wants to join in on the install.

Nope, have'nt used a coil compressor on the install's I've done. Click on the slee link I posted to see why. Maybe with the 4" or 6" springs but OME 2-3" you can Muscle and droop the axles enough to get them to fit fine.

You guys talking June 7th in LBC? Have to check back closer to the date but I might be able to head south down the 405.
