I have OME rear springs only. My shocks came with the truck. I plan on swapping them or OEM.

I run 285/75/16 MT's 10 ply. I will tell you that my ride is not as cush as it could be. Half the ride is the tires you choose. If you want a comfy ride then you don't want BFG's. They are a 3 ply Kevlar (had the AT's) but can't recall.

It has to do with the sidewall. The stiffer the sidewall, the less flex you will have and the stiffer the ride.

If your not going to see off-road but want an AT, choose one with a soft ply wall. You'll get the look with a softer ride.

Did the OME, love the quality, rides like a solid 4x4, love it. If anyone cares about luxury ride I question their purchase of a full size body on frame SUV.
Hmm, my LX is lifted with E rated tires and is pretty lux... Rides better than my moms Audi. If I wanted a rough ride I would have stuck with my dodge. :bang:

So far, I have owned two different 100 series. My first one was a 2003 and my current one is a 2006.
On the 2003, I installed 30mm spacers in the rear, new OEM (Toyota) shocks on all four corners, and cranked the torsion bars to help level it out. I also installed an Air Lift air bag system for when I tow our expedition trailer. I put Cooper AT3 LT 285/75/16 on 16" Toyota rims. The truck had steel front and rear bumpers. I love the way the truck rode, both while towing and also around town.
On the 2006, it came a Slee medium 1.5" lift (OME 865 rear springs and OME shocks all around) and I run Cooper AT3 285/65/18 on 18" Toyota rims. I have installed an Air Lift air bag system, but so far it has popped two bags. The truck has factory bumpers, and basically carries the same stuff as the 2003 did.
I am not happy with the suspension in the 2006. The fact that I have popped two air bags is frustrating, not to mention I went on a run this weekend (without the trailer) and I dragged my back end several times (fortunately 90% of the time it hit the trailer hitch).
If I had to do it over again, I would stick with the system in the 2003. I realize the OP does not intent to offload or tow, so he could probably skip the Air Lift air bag system, otherwise I really enjoyed that setup.

I have stock slightly cranked torsion bars, stock rear coils with a 30mm coil spacers, airlift bags in the rear, and custom valved fox 2.0 shocks. I have a custom front bumper with a heavy ass winch and custom sliders. I regularly off-road and flex the rear suspension to extremes and have continuous issues with the airlift bags. But the flexibility of a stock like plush ride and ability to tow 4-6k lbs with the air bags in the rear is nice.
With your intended use I would go with factory replacement shocks all around and coil spacers like others have suggested and call it a day. Four new shocks from Toyota will set you back slightly more than one of the iron man foam cell pros.

Forgive the question but are the rear spacers installed by shops with special spring compressors or is the installation more lengthy with a rear axle drop?

What do you attribute this to? Think its the bigger wheels/tires on the 06 making it a crappier ride?

My cousin and I were able to replace rear shocks and add spacers to the OME s865s with little struggle.no special tools used

No spring compressor needed. I have done it a few times (once to install shocks then a few months later to install air bags). Some on here said they had to unhook brake lines and breather line. I just did one side at a time, kept the opposite side tire on. I did not have to undo brake or breather line. I got enough flex to where the spring just drops out. You do have to unhook the rear sway bar and bottom shock bolt.

Not sure and that is what is killing me. It should not be the tires as they are virtually the same size (32.8" on the 2003 and 32.6" on the 2006), but the 2003 sidewall is 8.4" compared with 7.3". Not sure if my shocks are worn out.
