Hey Keith definetly camp by us. I will save some extra space for you. We park toward the back part of the party! Look for this kind of setup and thats where will be! - Matt

And for Mark's "Bathroom Practice" let me tell you...there is no one AND I mean NO One more anul than him when it comes to takin a dump (no pun intended). Seriously the freaking moon and sun have to be lined up, no one within fifty yards (he can't concentrate when people are talking) and the weather has to be between 55-85 degrees before his guy can pinch one:flipoff2:. Lets put it this way. He had to hop into his 40 and drive over two or three sand dunes ( about 1/2 mile) to use the valut toilet, because he did't feel coommfortable using the toilet right next to camp:flipoff2:

It wasn't so much the cold as it was the dampness.

Im actually kind of the same as Mark.
That is why I left every AM on the 45 run.;)
The facilities at the trail head were VERY NICE!

No "official" Trail Team this year. But expect several the the team members showing up on the own. ;)
 
Ham Repeater for folks down South on the way to Pismo

well, I did look around a bit and put out a couple of calls on the air and it seems like a good repeater to use for folks coming from the South is the

Santa Ynez Peak Repeater on 145.180 PL131.8 W6YJO

that one is at about 4000' on the coastal ridge and should cover a good portion of both North and South Santa Barbara County. In fact I tried tonight and was able to raise easily somebody in Arroyo Grande who said that folks are using the repeater at least from the Hollywood Hills down South all the way to SLO on the North. Also Santa Margarita apparently, so maybe even to Pozo? Anyway, it should cover both Pismo I imagine and a good chunk of the way South to L.A. So this may be a good one to use for traffic from/to the South going to SnT on the 101.

[There is/was also the Broadcast Peak repeater on 147.000 (also 131.8) mentioned before but that one was out of order for a long time and even though it is back on the air -I'm told- is now running at reduced power. So may or may not work for Pismo. Not sure.]

The Santa Ynez repeater work well in Pismo. Good to hear it reaches so far south too. I picked up the Broadcast Peak repeater the other day and it was very weak and noisy.

So here's the official Surf N Turf HAM frequencies:

On the beach, local...

Coming from the South...

There are a pair of "linked" repeaters that provide good coverage from Pismo almost to Salinas. The Northern most William's Hill repeater operates on a frequency of 146.73 Mhz. A CTCSS (PL) tone of 127.3 Hz is required to access the repeater. The repeater does transmit PL. It is located 2800 feet above sea level at Williams Hill near San Ardo.
The Southern most is the Mt Lowe repeater operates on a frequency of 147.36 Mhz. A CTCSS (PL) tone of 127.3 Hz is required to access the repeater. The repeater does transmit PL. It is located 2624 feet above sea level at Mt Lowe near San Luis Obispo.

Very good. Will have to program those freq into my radio.

Was at Pismo a few weeks ago for the 4Runner Jamboree, and could easily and very clearly talk to the guys on the dunes from Garcia Ridge on simplex.

Anybody else have APRS in their rigs?

Yanagi Sushi and Grill on the corner of 4th St. and Hwy 101/James way. 4 Teppan grills, a large sushi bar, a bunch of tables and really good sushi at a good price. They also have a smaller place a few blocks away called WOW Yanagi on Oak Park off of the 101. No Teppan, same menu, quicker service. damn good sushi at eithe place. Let me know if I didn't tell you what you are looking for.:)
 
Eric - thanks for the research (fun as it may be) and update on the repeaters. Santa Barbara county repeaters are neatly tucked away in memory bank 6, easily accessible by hyperkey 6.
