Superwinch X9 Remote Questions

I have an older Superwinch X9. I lost the remote years ago, so I ordered a new one - and the plug is different. Is this something that Superwinch changed over the years, or do you think that someone customized it? If it is custom, can someone recommend a "best practices" way of doing my re-custom job? Is there a better way to do it?....or should I just hard wire it into the truck?

Maybe I'll try that next week. I wish they had something on their website stating that there are different types of plugs.

Sherman Tank the controller port you have is the old 3 pin style, SuperWinch changed later to a 4 pin model when also changing the controller itself to a more robust design.
