From what I've read there where only 250 in 1983 with p/s and less than 50 with a/c and p/s so if you have had three you deal with a ton of 40's or your really lucky ..... Do you know where those three are?

he is talking right hand drive imports

rare as hens teeth in the U.S.A. This is a actual California model says so under the hood so even more rare. I am getting the dents taken out and new factory color paint. It runs great just drove it 400 plus miles:hillbilly:

Good luck with the sale. I would like another 40 again

Probably real lucky, I sold them all in the early 90s. Who knows where they are now, I know one went to Wimberly offroad in Texas, actually he might of bought 2 of them from me along with a 1977fj45 I had. I should of kept at least one. If I want one I will just buy one from Australia it is that simple.

That may work in NY, but it won't fly here in the republic (of california). Use to be that you could import it if it was 25 years or older.

My understanding is that they've frozen the date so that it has to be 1976 or older to get it registered in california.

So, back on topic, this rig might be a good deal for any buyers planning on keeping it in CA. Besides, it's got a cool license plate number.

IMPOSSIBLE,I thinkl I sold 2RHD to guys in Californie unless your talking about a different Cali.??maybe the laws changed yesterday and since I am no jurist I wouldn't no. In any case it's a nice cruiser.

Have you checked the CA DMV website?

See section 21.060 under Smog certification

The department must refuse registration of a 1975 or newer year model direct import vehicle which unless the appropriate Air Resources Board (ARB) certification is submitted

Good luck getting that certification from CARB.

So again, point is, this is a good rig for you CA folks since it's already CA registered. Carry on;).

does that go for diesels?

I just bought a bj-44 that I am trying to get ca registration it has a valid florida title? Curious

If it is a model year 1976 and newer it has to pass Ca smog. 1975 and older they do not require smog.
