Not sure if seeing high dollar fj40s at auction is a good thing.

Personally I am all for it. I have a 69 just waiting for some love. The price of cruisers across the board are rising, 40s are just going nuts. Even the 80s have been deemed a niche collectors vehicle by some. Only down side that I see is initial cost going up, parts are already high.

I'll be there watching it get auctioned off! So excited!

It is exciting to see the market paying attention to the old 40's but it's a double edged sword. If you're looking to sell then great news. If you are like most of us who just want to keep their junk running then it's going to get more expensive.
Example: Barrett Jackson totally destroyed the average guy's chances of ever getting into old Mopars. Parts availability has risen tremendously, but at a huge price. Now 'cudas and Chally's are out of reach of all but the wealthy... And they were dirt cheap when they were new...rightly so. There's not much to 'em. They were throw away cars.

Exactly my thoughts. We're a long way off from that ending, but it's coming if these auction prices stay high.

... in addition to there really being nothing else in the pipeline of classic car/trucks worth getting involved with. I could still land a '71 Pinto for pretty cheap, but why would I?

So buy a 40 and put it in the garage, INVEST $30 K into it over the next 3 years and sell it for what it will bring, today would be about $45K and up. $15K will go a long way toward building your own truck. Parts are already expensive. Seems to me the time to buy 40s is 6 months ago, buy soon if you want one at a decent price.

If you are just trying to keep your junk running, it gets more valuable with each repair. Like I said, parts are already expensive.

There's a 40 that went today at Barrett Jackson and the description talks about the 'attention to detail' and how accurate it is and the bezel is upside down...haha!

At Gooding now...the cars are amazing!
