Hello,

I’m two weeks into ownership of a 2003 LC now with just over 197k miles. Getting close to 1k miles.

This morning, although I’ve used it a lot in the past few weeks, my sunroof was not working well.

Closing it from the open tilted position, it makes a single thumping noise but closes. The thump is new.

When closing from the wide open sliding position, it was nearly closing all the way then opening again as if something was in the way. This repeated maybe three times, and then it finally closed.

I’m worried about it, so haven’t opened it since.

I’ve had the truck out in the rain, and no leaks have been experienced yet. Briefly looking it over when I previously had it open, I didn’t see any obvious rust.

What are some tips for maintaining the sunroof? Do the tracks need to be re-lubricated? Is there a special lubricant that should be used? I’m thinking I should open it up and check/clear the tracks of any debris.

Wurth True Glide Lubricant... THE answer to sunroof maintenance. Use a Q-tip and hit all the moving parts after a thorough cleaning of same.

I tried putting lube on my relationship and it didn't work nearly as well..... ;)
