Out on a short trip with family. Went to open the sunroof and it would not slide back. It’s getting caught up maybe an inch or so sliding back. I’m able to close it though.

So I tried to tilt it up instead, and that worked fine at least. But when I went to close it, the rear rubber seal is getting stuck on the rear of the opening and leaves a quarter inch gap. It’s really loose too. I can move it around and it detaches from the glass.

I was able to get it to close by applying inward pressure on the rubber so it would fit back in, but I can see a pin prick of sunlight through the rear of the seal and it doesn’t look quite right. Feels like there is something missing along the rear of the inside of the sunroof.

I think when I first tried to slide it open and it got stuck something might have broken off the back?

I squirted some water on the outside once I got it closed and it’s definitely leaking now.

What are my options here?

Based on where I think I see water staining on your interior trim and the look of the outer seal, I think the main issue is the large gap in the hard inner seal that is bonded to the glass. Several of us had leaks there this winter, including me. I think we all successfully solved it with sealant as that seal isn't available separately from a new glass assembly: What have you done to your 100 Series this week? - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/what-have-you-done-to-your-100-series-this-week.609679/page-1586#post-14147399

The soft outer seal to the body looks like it could be replaced on yours as well, but if the drains are clear, that probably isn't the main source of your current leak.

If you want to dive into fixing the function of your roof, it's likely the usual cable/guide problem. It's a fairly involved job, but definitely doable: How To: Stuck Sunroof Repair - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/how-to-stuck-sunroof-repair.1263070/

@dbfw thank you for your reply! I was wondering if some sort of sealant could be used to address the leak. I will read through that thread.

Ahh! You can’t replace just the seal? $750 for the entire glass panel? Ugh. What sealant did you use if you don’t mind me asking? What was the process you followed?

The whole rubber seal is loose from the glass on mine, the right side of the outer rubber to the right of the gap in mine (see picture) I can pull away from the glass. I’m assuming it should be solidly attached to the glass.

The outer soft rubber gasket can be replaced and is available from Toyota. It comes with a adhesive already applied and just needs to be pushed on.

To seal the hard plastic piece to the glass itself you can use any sort of automotive sealant. I used some clear sealant which mostly worked. Planning to add some flowable sealant over it to get a small piece that still drips a tiny bit. If I was going to do it again I would start with the flowable sealant so it secures the hard plastic to the glass.

Yes, I wouldn't recommend using the sealant I did. It did stop my leak, but it was an emergency repair and I was just raiding my workbench for anything that would do. @awesomeissquid is exactly right, there are two seals there. The soft outer one that seals. the sliding assembly to the body opening is available and can be replaced separately. The hard inner one that has the large gap in your picture and a smaller gap in the thread I linked above is only available as part of the glass assembly.

To make things easier to work on, you can remove the glass by removing the four brass colored nuts under the black plastic interior trim bezels surrounding the roof. The entire glass assembly will then lift straight up and off the truck so you can work on it on your bench instead of from a ladder.
