They are actually a new Nomad wheel.

Makes me wonder if the 80-series is still the hardest core LC wheeler. Or if portals are more desirable than this.

Agree. We need to plan a Moab or similar trip this fall to test and document. You know, for science. Paging @MTKID @XFACTR @J2HundyOutfitters

I can bring my 80 series on 42's to the testing field.

I LOVE this idea. Both Micah @MTKID and Chad @J2HundyOutfitters are good friends, so this would be such a fun time! Regarding the question of whether this or portals is better, I’ll weigh in with some pros and cons: first, the pros for portals: 1. Clearance: with Werewolf portals and 40s I have the clearance of a 51” tire. 2. Gearing: I have the equivalent of 5.26 gears. I have to use brakes to stop from climbing the RTI ramp! Lol. (When Chad creates that doubler I’m gonna have super deep gears!) 3. Less wear and tear on my drivetrain. 4. 5.2” of lift, 9” total of additional width (stability with the lift). 5. Full float rear axle 6. Bigger rotors
Cons of portals: 1. Cost (ugh) 2. Maintenance (oil change every 5k miles, more moving parts).
I’ll add one more thing here, which is always the X factor with off-roading (see what I did there 🤣). I’ve wheeled with Chad, and he is by far the best and most skilled off-roader I’ve ever had the pleasure of wheeling with. While I think the portals probably give my rig an advantage in the capability department, his skill alone would probably run me in circles. I got portals and 40s so I could keep up with skilled drivers on 35’s. 🤣

Minimum tire size to join?
Just whatever the next size up from what you’re currently running (to help with motivation) 😉

Does my rig have to have a running motor to join or will Chad just tow me through 🤔

The more the merrier if we could make it happen!
