Hey everyone,

I figured it was time to finally share a milestone we've been quietly wrenching toward here at J2Hundy Outfitters in Western Colorado. WabiSabi—our 2008 Land Cruiser 200 test mule—is now officially running 42" tires on factory IFSwith a custom 3" body lift with thoughtful, trial-by-fire modifications that got us there.

We’re not here to flex. Honestly, this whole journey has been more about curiosity, community, and problem-solving than bragging rights. The name WabiSabi itself is about finding beauty in imperfection, and this rig embodies that. Mistakes were made. Lessons were learned. And yeah—some trail carnage happened too.

Here’s the current setup:

  • 3” UHMW body lift (our own design) with radiator drop brackets.
  • 42” Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT’s
  • Factory Toyota IFS (yes, really aside from polyurethane bushings and alignment tabs)
  • Spidertrax 1.75” spacers
  • Custom steel bumper + skid protection (nothing pretty, but super functional)
  • J2Hundy Valley Guard Gasket (testing durability under strain)
  • Morimoto & Diode Dynamics lighting setup
  • Front body mount delete lol
  • Firewall chopping and tubbing
  • Fender and quarter panel cutting
  • Sledge hammer massage
  • Windshield washer fluid reservoir deleted but PlaidWagon has the solution
  • Copper & Brass custom radiator soon to come
  • Looking forward to dual transfercase or doubler this year maybe
  • Hoping Revolution Gear & Axle want to be a part of doing 4.88 ring and pinion sets
We’re still dialing in gearing (looking at 4.88s next), and honestly, this post is also a way of saying thanks. This community on MUD has been a huge part of our learning curve—whether it’s reading through 15-year-old build threads or finding encouragement from other crazies who mod these tanks.

If you’re building something wild—or just keeping your Cruiser running strong—cheers to you. We’d love feedback, questions, or even some gentle roasting. We’re in this to learn and keep building better.

See you on the trail (or at the next parts run when something breaks).

Respectfully,
Chad @ J2Hundy Outfitters

WabiSabi is kind of a monster now. Feels and looks like Tonka truck. Makes you wanna grab it by the roof with your hand like a kid and roll it back and forth. IYKYK

Currently on stock gearing. Reaching out soon to Revolution Gear and Axle to have a chat about 4.88’s

Speaks to how much of a brute the 5.7L is that it's able to effectively turn 42s with stock gearing!

Very excellent!

Makes me wonder if the 80-series is still the hardest core LC wheeler. Or if portals are more desirable than this.

The wheels remind me of FJ40 wheels. Awesome!

Is that a camera in your front bumper?

Hell yeah!

Did you need to do anything to the KDSS system to relocate the sway bar from interfering?

8sp and 4.88's could get you the gearing you want. The 8sp's 1st gear is 44% lower than the 6sp. I haven't dug too deep into it but I see the transmission has a separate ECU.... unlike the 100 series where it was integrated.

I've been watching your truck on instagram. Nice to see you on MUD finally. Truck looks stupid in the best possible way. :hillbilly: I've got revolution 4.88 and dare I say, you'll want more gearing than that!
