Does anybody know the P/N and where it is located on the sub fuel tank? Same question for the main tank.

The internet is about the only way to get an aux fuel tank here in the U.S., and it would help verify that the seller has a sub tank not a main tank if I could tell them: " . . . Look on the ______ near the _____ and tell me what P/N you see . . ".

A factory subtank is located above where the spare tire is located on US 80's. The main tank is located in the same location on vehicles with subtanks as those without.

Honesty, if you are having a hard time figuring out this information this is probably not a mod you want to undertake. It is by no means plug and play.

It you must, either search ebay for Aussies selling these or bit the bullet and buy the kit from SOR. Neither will include everything but they will get you 60% there.

Good luck.

I believe the last poster misread your question -

I have handled several of the subtanks over the years, and none had the p/n stamped into the tank. To complicate matters, there are several different variations of the subtank (for different fuel types, different years, etc), with different part numbers.

Having said that, as to telling them apart the main tank is twice the size of the subtank as you know, so it would not even come cloase to fitting in the space above he spare tire well. Perhaps that distinction will help identify which tank the seller has available.

Also, there are several variations of the main tank as well. There are a couple of very recent, and very good threads on this subject... might help to review those for some of the issues related to this mod.

Cheers, R -

Have him fill it up will gallons of water one by one and then tell you how many it held.....................

Might seem stupid but it will give you an answer.

Thanks for the suggestions and you are right, my question was not "where are the tanks located".

Just trying to dail in as much as possible, a transaction that will be sight-unseen in a foreign contry !
