i'm putting on my hysteer from all pro and i thought i could just reuse my old pitman arm, then found out there totaly different tie rod diamiters for i have to replace the pitman arm.
my pitman arm is so stuck on i have allready broke a 3 prong puller and now on my way to breaking a pitman arm puller. my impact wont move it and all i got now is a breaker bar. anymore ideas on how to get this damn thing off? is there a new rod end i can buy that will fit my stock pitman arm? i need help and fast.

That and get out a big hammer (32oz or better) and give the pitman arm a couple of really good hits where it slides over the shaft.

Heat works very well... just becareful not to burn up the seal.

Using a three-finger puller is usually a dead loss. A pitman arm puller is best... and combine that with a few good smacks from a hammer or some serious (oxy acet) heat.

A dab of anti-seize cmpd on the taper when you put things back together is the solution to future removals.

cool thanks for the ideas and yeah i just got the old 5 pounder and went to town and finally got it off and all in, thanks alot guys.

next time, just run a bead of weld on the arm - it will come right off....

I broke the first puller, took a torch to it for a minute and loaded up the new puller as far as I thought it could take it and hit the top of the arm a couple of times with a small machine hammer. Did the trick..
