I think there was...I think I've seen them before. But it'll be nice to have all these in one thread in case there's another Strowski floating around out there in someone's garage.

Though the last bunch look new to me.

OK here's all the documents I found in the box with the OD

It is complete and it did work.the guy i got it from had it in his fj55 and he drove it from cali to maine but had to pull it apart twice because a part came out inside.I'll try to get pic soon it buried some were in my shed.

That's correct R.K.! Right now it's sitting on my benchtop, I started to get into it, but other projects have come up. Nice to see some manual/instructions. Hopefully I'll get mine back up in working order. But it's nice to see someone else who has one!

Just saw this thread ... When i was first married i bought and paid for this transfer case, sent the money in full and of course got nothing in return ... I must have called Steve himself a hundred times in the next year or two and got through dozens of times .. he always made excuses and promised it would be coming soon, I didn't have a credit card yet (I paid by by Canada Post Money Order) so I could not do anything and lost the well over $1000 it cost :(

I ended up making my own unit by putting a Muncie 4 speed Transmission RIGHT on back of the TH400 Transmission, and bolting a NP 205 transfer case behind that :) gave me 26 forward gears and 14 reverse :)

Steve Strowski is/was an old school Hungarian "Chief Engineer" with really old school manufacturing skills, and zero knowledge of managing money. He was our first Engineer back in 1970. Fortunately we moved on/upgraded engineering skills. Unfortunately Strowski continued to develope Landcruiser products that he could not bring to market. He took many many deposits from innocent bystanders, then never delivered, never refunded, and/or he delivered prototypes that were incomplete and/or would not work at all. That was all back in the late 1970's and early/mid 1980's. I haven't heard his name since then???

I remember him well :( ... we spoke on the phone many times and I he still has my money :(

Would assume this was not in a stock short wheel base FJ40? Maybe a 45?

At the time he was advertising in the 4X4 magazine he planned to make the cases for everything except Fords ... and the Chevy / GMC ones were ready to go any day ... he also advertised a "Universal Model" in "Divorced Style" with a short drive shaft on the front of the T case (with I agreed to accept 6 months later, if it was ready first)

... mine was for my '78 GMC Step Side "monster truck" ... I had 20" Split rims off an 18 wheeler on it and needed the Underdrive model ... as even with 4:10 gears ,my truck was geared way to low for the 42" tall tires.

Frankly I'm shocked to see that Strowski made ANY units, let alone any that are actually being driven. At Downey, we spent literally every dime we made during a two year period trying to develop an Underdrive for the Landcruiser. We never could get the gear noise down to a tolerable level due to the side thrusting design of the Landcruiser transfer-case.

Still haven't fit mine in...wonder if it'll fit a 70 series?

If yours was made to fit the one piece Land Cruiser transfer case with either ten or sixteen spline output shaft doubt it would work without a custom adapter. Then worse than a Fairey overdrive for the split transfer case as far as available parts if you need it.
