Hi

I already openend another thread about my problem: my lower trunnion bearing is shot and I am in Mexico and am playing russian roulette with my HZJ75 till I get totally stuck down here.
I can get the original Toyota parts but I want to get stronger trunnion bearings than then stock ones if I already need to rebuilt that thing after only 40'000km! (35'000 on street!!!)
The only site I found so far is this one here:

http://www.locktup4x4.com.au/heavy-duty-swivel-hub-rebuild-kit-hzj75-fzj75-1-1990-1999-584.html

But shipping is super expensive!
They told me to go to marlincrawler but they don't seem to have any 7series stuff on their HP (Why should they, the 7series is almost non existend in the USA)
They say the 8series stuff will work on my 7series but when looking at toyodiy.com they have different parts?

So anyone knows what Koyo Bearing reference they use on their kits or where I can get such a strong kit like that in the USA or Canada or even Mexico?
I do have a shipping adress in Mexico but also in California if needed OR also Germany...

Thank you for any help!

you sure? Toyodiy shows a totally different part number for the 80series and 70series...
Also the Koyo shown above shows up to be only for 7series, nothing written about 8series...

Check out a Toyota Hilux you should be able to source these in Mexico, looks like some parts will match.

Would help knowing the year of your unit and/or VIN

hmm not sure what John was referring too, but the 7 series got a totally different Toyota part number for that trunnion/kingpin bearing!
It seems that ony 7series got the same. Here the cross reference:

http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/xref?s=90366‑17007 &mU=on&mE=on&mJ=on&mG=on

I DO CAN get that bearing here with Toyota Mexico, they seem to be able to get almost any part in 3-8days BUT I don't want to reinstall the same weak
Toyota bearing if there are stronger ones out there. Supposely that Koyo above is stronger with an extra roller.
I got 3.8tons and 33" tires and the axle was rebuilt about 40'000km ago with only 3000-5000km offroad. I don't want to repeat this part search somewhere in south
america but do it right the first time!

What's the Koyo Part number for the ORIGINAL Toyota bearing?

Marlin and Trail gear make aftermarket (beefier) trunnion bearings, which I suspect may be compatible with 60 series as many of the mini truck knuckle parts crossover. I believe the spindles from an 80 are the same as a 60 series as well.

The bearings are dependent on the vintage of the front end.... there are three vintages of front end in the 70 series that I am aware of, and two possibilities for the HZJ75 depending on year.

The Trunion bearing (king pin bearing) life is very dependent on how you assemble your front end - too tight or too loose and they will not last very long.

Definitely use a high end moly-fortified grease!

what year is your HZJ75?

Folks--there is no reason to overthink this. Just get the Toyota boxed Koyo's or get the Koyo's.

Be done with it and get back on the road.

:)

Sorry, 60 series and early 80 series spindle's I think are the same.

Onur, can you tell us which trunnion bearings carry over? I.e. mini truck, 60 series, 80 series and 70 series?

Im curious about upgrading my 60 or 80 series axles at some point and im sure others are too.

There are basically 2 different trunnions:

90366-17001-77: Minitrucks, SFA 4Runners, FJ60/62, early 7x series rigs with non-80 series style front suspension setup.

90366-20003: 80 series/105/7x series with 80 series front suspension setup.

The 80's kingpin bearings are larger than 70's. The Koyos are very strong bearings and apart from putting a heavier axle you are pretty well stuck with them.
If you kingpin bearings are wearing out prematurely - they ones that failed may not been shimmed and preloaded properly .You must be on very rough roads, with a heavy loads, stiff springs, poor shocks, hard tires - all contributing to pounding on the kingpin bearings.
If you are going a long way best to get a 2 or 3 hub rebuild kit/W wheel bearings (Cruiser Outfitters, UT) so you can fix them anywhere. I am guessing your heavy weight and rough roads are pounding out your kingpin bearings. I only got 40,000 km out my last set so you are not alone.
