Been dipping my toe in the 60 pool for some time now and while discussing a trip to Vegas for a birthday party I begin to look for Landcruisers and parts, cause I guess that’s just what I do...I normally never look on CL. It’s an older medium for classifieds IMO. It’s like picking up the Sunday paper almost, nevertheless, how I found my 40.

First ad that popped up-Desert truck (zero rust), owned by a master mechanic at Finely Toyota since 2000, all stock/original. Missing front oem bumper, some small bits, etc but That’s expected.

Long story, longer, I’m heading to Las Vegas in the morning to pick up this 1985 FJ60, Strong Blue. Land at 7am and will be heading N into Utah, over through Grand Junction and hopefully making Gunnison by 9pm. Saturday through Poncha Springs (Classic Cruisers) on our way to Salida for lunch. Then push to Hays and hopefully home by Sunday morning.

Wish me luck.

Having done this before, pack a checked bag full of tools.

and good luck.

wish i could count how many times i've done the rescue mission.. it is always fun.. I've done Canada, LA, SanteFe, Cleveland, Seattle, Colorado and Wyoming some other rescue missions i'm forgetting. We towed back from 3 of those. the others we drove the newly acquired vehicle home. Some of my fondest memories on those trips! Bring a mechanically competent friend that you enjoy windows down driving with. You will bond with your new purchase..

Bond yes.... and in my case run into Walmart 10 minutes before they close and buy one of every tool you think you might need to pull apart a front axle in their parking lot, halfway home from Chicago.....good times....

Some of My best trips. At least most memorable. More sketch, more memorable.

Going for no sketch and more memorable ;)

Decided to make a quick stop at the local garage to flush the radiator, diff service and oil change. Figured money well spent and it was badly needed.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for you. I'm in Idaho Springs at the moment. Headed back to KC on Sunday.

And 85 miles in, just across the Arizona line temps get hot. Shut it down and getting towed to St George. Stay tuned!

@cjmoon thanks for all your help last night! Made the decision to ship her back from Utah.
