Just bustin on ya....I am intimately familiar with the former bad boy based strippers from here: http://www.aerospace.henkel.com/index.cfm?ID=176
Without going into detail and if my memory serves me correctly, a formulation or two (before they were green) added a little mixture of phosphoric acid and some hydroflouric acid for good measure. Now that is some very nasty stuff...and I draw the line with that. HF bad stuff indeed.

In any event, we all must wear protective gear. I was also advised that using a flat putty knife scraper is preferred. I say blast it and forget it . Move the nozzle fast enough , not to do any warping, then go with stripper/ blow torch, or whatever.

needlegun

I think I remember reading a thread about a needlegun, possibly by white shark. Needle guns suck. I had to deal with em in the navy, and I don't know why I pursued painting after that fiasco.

stripping rubberized tar

I gather from most of your replies that rubberized tar is a pain and not good to undercoat with. I don't plan on doing a frame-off, but do want to clean up the undercarrige (i know i'm cheap) but i have been considering undercoating my axle and fender wells. Good idea or bad idea?????
