How do I stop a camper with a battery from sending power to my LX470 after I’ve taken the key out of the ignition? My lights and rear wiper just turn on and stay turned on until I disconnect the trailer 7pin cable. What’s the most obvious cause here?

Thanks!

Sounds like the wiring may be wrong. But the easiest remedy is to install a battery isolation solenoid.

Or maybe an in-line cut off on the trailer wiring. That way he'd still have use of the truck's power when he's not in motion.

Short of finding the issue. Which could be a real fun job.

I installed a few diodes in my camp trailer wiring harness to accomplish the same thing. Since I utilize the trailers reverse, tag and clearance lights as camp lighting I had to install diodes on each circuit to prevent the cruisers lights from illuminating when I switched these on at the trailer.

However, I do not understand why the rear wiper would come on when hooked to the trailer. That is a completely different circuit.

Yeah, and it's only once I shut off my LX
Yeah, seems like something might be wired wrong with your trailer wiring on the vehicle? But the inline diodes is what I would do. That's what I have on my rig to keep the trailer brake from messing up the brake controller if the runway cable gets pulled accidently.

You aren't the only one. I have the same exact problem with my 2004. When I first hooked up my trailer, I also had a constant buzzer sound coming from under the dash. That went away but I have the issue with the wiper every time, and the vehicle doesn't lock using the remote. I have a factory tow package using factory 7-pin wiring, so I assume everything is wired correctly. When towing with another vehicle, trailer doesn't seem to send power back to the vehicle, so I think it's definitely on the vehicle end.

If the vehicle's trailer wiring converter gets corroded, it can cause really erratic and bizarre behavior. I don't have experience with the factory trailer harness or the factory 7 pin plug, but I can say the vehicle lighting went bonkers when my aftermarket trailer wiring converter went bad on my '99.

Weren't there also some that were recalled or at least known to be prone to over heating?
