Hey Fellas,

I was wondering if anyone had the eye to eye measurement of the stock FJ40 spring shackles?

I have SOA on my 40 with unknown springs as well as a shackle reverse. I would like to get the FJ to sit a bit lower and also replace my torn up bushings. I looked at one spring and it said "made in Canada" but cannot find the name of the manufacturer (yet). I'd like to get the FJ down about 2 inches.

Will I have a problem installing shorter shackles if mine are longer because of the length of the spring?

This is what it looks like with 35's
Thanks in advance Fellas.. btw I did search first.

Anyone hear of a leaf spring from Canada called something like "Standart" ???? It's a bit hard to make out the last part of the name/word. I measured my shackle from center of the bolt head to bolt head and it comes out to 4 3/4"... lift shackle?

Pin-to-Pin distance through 7/80 is 2.75 inches

8/80 --> '84 is 3 inches

If you go to stock height on the shackles, that will help; but only a little.

You may only have a real drop of about one inch. Otherwise, looks great to me! :cheers:

I believe that is the brand that SOR sells or did sell. The brand is "Standens". Take a look at the pics of the springs in this fellow's ad..

Where did you find the marking on the springs, if I may ask? I believe I have the same ones you are talking about, but have never found any markings. Are the 4 3/4" shackles an 'H' bar type? Mine look just like the ones in the ad pics and the rubber bushings I recently replaced were marked Specter. BTW, The shackles are NOT 5/8"....I had to drill out the holes to use 5/8"greasable bolts.

You'll lose some compression when the spring flattens. Less so with droop but there will also be some loss.

Thanks lobo loco ... I found the markings on the "straps" that hold the leafs together. It says CANADA in large letters and then (know I know) Standens just below. The 4 3/4 shacles ARE "H" bar type. I'll take some pictures of them tomorrow.

numby - thanks for the info. I would like to change the bushings first. Right now the ride is really loose.

Do you know what size lift those springs are? I have 2 1/2" of lift (springs) and was thinking you had the same?

Thanks!
