Well I knew it wouldn't be too long before I got the Cruiser itch again and here in Costa Rica there are tons of cruisers to be had.

I found a really good deal on a local cruiser and have decided to jump on it.
It is a 1977 BJ40 with a fully restored body.

It has the original B engine which is in great running shape.

It was a project truck that has been relinquished to a back room of his shop and he is looking to generate some funds for a new tourist venture. So it currently has all of the parts to be a running and driving truck, they just need to be reinstalled.

The current owner has a saginaw setup ready to go in and with the addition of the gauge cluster it should be ready to drive on the road. :)

To Do List

In order to get the truck street legal here in costa rica I will need to take care of a few things.

Short Term To Do:

Legal paperwork to bring its registration up to date, ect.
Power Steering
Install saginaw box
Reinstall steering shaft
Custom Front Bumper
Spring Flip for Wheelbase increase
Reinstall Gauge Cluster
Center Console
Rear Seat Reinstall
Buy a hardtop for rainy season
Diff Armor
Transfer case Brace

Long Term To Do:

Leaf Spring swap
53" Ford springs up front
63" Chevy Rears (If they Fit)
Custom Shackles
SOA Conversion Rear
Anti-wrap Bar
Half Doors
Front axle swap
FJ60 or BJ60 for front disc brakes
Rear Axle Swap
FZJ80 for disc brakes and Full Float
Fender Flares (removable)
Turbocharge the B engine/Motor Swap
Custom manifold with Junkyard motor
14BT swap
Roll cage
Aftermarket Gauges
Water temperature
Boost
Pyrometer
Rear Storage drawer system
Rear Bumper

Probably some other things but that's what I am thinking for the time being.

Glad to hear you're back Stevo.
Any rollover protection planned, or is that kind of thing frowned upon in Costa Rica?

Roll Cage is on the list, I just gotta find a place with a pipe bender. Safety is very low on most Costa Rican's importance list, not on mine though.

it looks good Stevo. I'm glad you found another Land Cruiser. Did you sell the other one yet?

Nope, still got the 6BT60. Its not urgent that I sell it so I will probably keep it for when I go back to the states. Its amazing having all that torque on tap for wheeling, but maybe the right buyer will come around and I might let it go.

Great Start

Stevo,
From the looks of things you seem to have hit the ground running. Great job on finding something in good shape to keep you busy. I know you are missing all of the great weather swings everyone is enjoying up here. Actually looking at 1" of ice and 2" of snow in SC this morning and 14 degrees. How is the part supply down there?

Stevo,

Hi neighbor, good to see you here.

I have a OEM chrome front bumper (with boobies), a gauge cluster and some other little parts in case you need one or the other.

Rudi

Awesome 40! What, no 6bt in this one too?

Nice find! Saw a bunch on the road from place near Fortuna to Florencia.

Maybe a 4BT :grinpimp: probably just gonna turbocharge the B engine or swap another Diesel

just wonder why SO only in the rear .? or I miss read the hole thing ..?

I'm going to run ford springs SUA up front which should net me 7" of lift like snowboardonsnow did. He has tons of flex

Part supply is ok. They reuse all sorts of parts down here. So they are sort of expensive.

Just put a down payment on the truck to start the legal paperwork. Once that is finished and I get the steering reinstalled I'll be getting the truck delivered to my place.

Great! When do you expect her home?

Rudi

Gotta love Costa Rican Paperwork, still waiting on the title for the truck but hopefully within the next week or two I should have it. :D

I'm beginning to understand that statement. Finally got the paperwork sorted out with the lawyer.
I will be working on getting the truck steerable tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able I get the Saginaw box mounted and the bracket made for the engine.

Then I'll be able to take the truck back to my place and work on it at my leisure.
