First post here, so forgive me if I breach etiquette in some way. I just bought an '02 UZJ 100. Great shape except the top half of the steering wheel is in need of refinishing. I've attached a couple of pics for clarity. My question is this: What's the best way to repair this or would I be better served to look for a new wheel? If the latter, can anyone recommend good sources for high-quality salvage parts? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

There is a local company here in Charleston, SC that specializes in this issue and relative leather issues. I was quoted $100-$120 to have the steering wheel look new. I would call George at Fabric Tech and see what he can rec ommend or possibly put you on to a company in your area.

Looks great! I'm trying to find instructions for steering wheel removal. Did you use a FSM or just go with your gut? I have a new wheel and want to get it done! Thanks.

Honestly, not much to it. Disconnect battery, take panels off side of steering wheel, two torx bolts on each side for airbag, remove airbags, then remove four bolts and one nut for steering wheel.

I used a steering wheel puller. Took 25 minutes. The new wheel from Shane at Metric TLC makes the truck feel new again.

think you could put a lexus wheel into a land cruiser?
i think that they look much better.

I have a Lexus wheel on my LC, exact same frame/mounts as original Toyota.
My OEM Toyota steering wheel is available if anyone needs one, it is like new (tan).

I just got back into town from one month on the road! Would like to catch up with you this week, maybe Friday, if not sooner. I would like to pick up that wind deflector, and I would be interested in purchasing your steering wheel if in fact it is like new.

x2 on Shane's (MetricTLC) wheel, I replaced my wheel on my 80 and it was great. 'll be getting his wheel for my 100 when I re-do the leather:p

Hey guys,

Yes the LC and the LX wheels interchange. Also the LX wheel is not perforated, it is rolled texture in the form of dimples, and the dimple leather is not available to me.

The AATLAS recovered steering wheel looks and feels great on my 80! Thanks much for the fast service and excellent product! Your seat leathers also make the wife happy!

Bamarock,
What color WheelSkins did you get? It looks like "Sand". I think my interior is the same color as yours. Oak looks like it may be too dark.
