i have just changed my birfields ,tierod ends, drag link ends, and put a new steering dampner in place and had everything realingedby professionals

my problem is

my steering is now heavy and my cruiser wants to dance all over the road
when driving it want to always drift to the right
my cruiser is a 60series 84 model 2f engine

thanks in advance for any and all help

tires?

it is poss.that you have a radial pull caused by a tire.try switching the front tires side 2 side.if it still pulls in the same direction it means it could be a suspension issue or binding hub.

not sure about the dancing all over the road. maybe your tires are unbalanced, or something is bound up...

do you drive on the same side of the road as in the states?

this is probably too simple but I have some friends who worked in alignment shops here and they siad they always made it drift very slightly to right so that in case you lose control the car wants to go towards the ditch, rather than the opposing lane of traffic.

I would go back to the alignment shop and see what's up. they should be able to diagnose the problem easily.

I figured that would be too easy...

Got my nickname Dazza from an Aussie, named mark (pronounced Mahk). Although I never did figure out ho whe would have spelled it...

when you changed your tie rod ends, did you measure the amount of threads showing and adjust the new ones the same? putting the new ones in at different lenghts will pull or push your steering different than before. might explain the "dancing" problem.

Hate saying it but...I think I understand some of your frustrations. I'm a patriot, not a zealot. I'm an American who is disappointed because I know we can do better.
Sorry, hijack over...

well said... I love my country and it's people. It's the gov't that I hold in contempt. Mark twain said it best... Love your country always, your government when it deserves it.

didn't mean to hijack...

Is your power steering gear in good shape? mine is shot and it rides all over the place. but mine is pretty loose feeling, so???

hhmm, weird! did you put OEM parts back on the front end? do you still have all the old parts that were removed? might try comparing the old parts to new just to make sure everything is the same. sorry mate, i'm stumped?

Eliminate the possibility that what you did caused the problem you're now seeing: check everything. The heaviness could be a bound up steering damper, and the dancing could be a loose TRE.

Easiest to disconnect components to isolate the problem, starting with the damper. Bet the heaviness disappears (you were used to a dead one, remember).

If you can move a TRE around with a 3' pry bar it's either defective or not tightened enough.

Think we should save the bashing/patriotism for chat, but IMHO it's great to see folks who are passionate about Cruisers and the USA. And wonderful to get support from the Aussies. We're all where we are because we want to be there. Doesn't make it perfect. Only we can.
