The steering knuckle arm on my RJ73 is very close to the rim and that makes rim choices really limited. As you can see in the picture below, there's only a half inch gap between the arm and the edge of the rim. And that is because I've put some old 16' rims from my BJ42 and they are quite narrow (6 inch). Otherwise it can only fit 7j and 8j 16' rims with negative offset (ET 0 or less) and I wasn't able to find alloy models with that size, only steel. I am trying not to use spacers, just some 16' alloy rims.

Do all J70s have a steering knuckle arm that close to the right wheel? Is there a replacement arm (+ steering rod) that is not "bent" towards the wheel and has a bigger gap?

@joekatana knows much about the 70 series. Tagging him here.

@FJ73Texas is a wheel guru as I understand. Hope I recall right.

There are not many rims that will work on these 70 series without spacers.

There may be, but only very few alloy wheels will fit (I haven't found any until now). Also, almost everything that fits other Land Cruisers won't fit this.

I appreciate the kind words. I am no guru.

There are not really a lot of options out there for 16" and larger alloy wheels just like @2fpower stated. Same for steel wheels also. Been looking off and on for a long time for suitable 16X8" wheels for me where the size fits and I like the style.

Of course there are expensive (and I mean expensive pre-shipping) JDM aftermarket options (Rays Volks, Enkei, Bradley, etc) or even the FJ Company Expedition wheels that are more geared towards the FJ40 which are nice but not my style.

I did notice that you are working with a coil sprung 73 series so I am not sure what the factory wheel offset is on those. I am used to leaf sprung heavy duty narrow nose 70 series models.

I just got a set of these....

That’s actually not close enough to be concerned about. It’s not gonna rub.

That's right, it's not going to rub, but I don't want to use these rims. I was trying to find some alloy rims, but I can't find any that fit.

Yep, it's the coil sprung 73, the light duty 73.

The factory wheels were 6Jx16 ET0 or 7Jx15 ET-20, if I'm not mistaken. From my estimation, it seems I can use these types of 16' rims:
6J ET 0, 6.5J ET -6, 7J ET -13, 7.5J ET -19 or 8J ET -25.

This is why I was asking if somebody replaced the steering knuckle arm with something less "bent" towards the rim.

After more research, The RJ7X appears to be same spec as any other 70 series heavy duty of the 6 lug era......so I woul say no...they are not the same as 80 series spec.
