I will eventually be looking for a steering column & wheel to use in my 66 FJ45LV. It will be running with power steering (planning on an FJ60 box if it'll fit along side the 2UZ). I was wondering what the columns from 70 series were like and how they might adapt to a 40 series interior fitment-wise.

Were/are any of them tilt columns?
Did they all have the ignition on the column?
Were airbags introduced at some point?

Any input, thoughts or PICTURES would be great. I'd really like to stay Toyota and I'd like to keep a bit of "old school" styling if possible.

Thanks,
mark

They are all tilt columns. All have the ignition on the column. Airbags were introduced a few years back, maybe 2007?. They are basically the same as a 60 series , but obviously are different in length etc.
I think the steering wheels from the 60 and 90 series are interchangeable and possibly some of the 4runner/hilux . The 70 series has 3 different wheels, maybe 4 with airbags
