looking to replace steering column and steering wheel. Anyone know the size needed for a 73 FJ40. The motor is chevy so I'm not looking to keep it OEM. Looks like the universal ones on Pirate Manufacturing is a good fit. Thanks brian

I am going to take a leap of faith and assume you have power steering. My personal preference is for late 80's, early 90's columns from GM and Chevy pickups. No air bag, tilt, easy install, locking column key and compatible with the early FJ40 wiring (no separate turn light). The length from the dash bracket to the face of the wheel is almost exactly the same as the stock column, so it doesn't impact the driver (plus it's a smaller diameter wheel). Lower end accepts Borgeson 1" DD x1" DD universal which hooks up nicely to their telescopic shaft. Look for donor with a manual trans, it eliminates removing all the A/T shift mechanisms. Wiring schematics are available on the internet. Dash bracket is an easy mod., you'll need to make a new firewall plate. I am installing one right now into a '76 FJ40. If you go that route and get stumped on the wiring I can get you the info you need.

Try BTB products. Flaming river is a great choice.
