There are two types of steel 18" wheels for the Tundra (standard and styled). Not positive on the specs. They run about $125 each. The Toyota steel wheel lug nuts you are planning on using cost about $3.67 each.

If I was going with steel wheels I would want these 16" ones though.

Eric, that should be right. If you measure from a straight edge on the back of the wheel to the mounting surface it is 6 15/16. If you take off the lip (bead) then it should be 6 3/8"

I would say wheels with 3/4" less backspace would be nice. If you go to wide the truck grabs ruts and just does not drive well.

So 6.25" would be what I should ask for?

I'm not even sure that is possible given the rim shells and centers they are using.

Right now, I'm wishing I was back in 80ville. At least there I knew for sure what would work and what wouldn't.

I'm going to hold off until I physically can touch a 100, that is only 3 more days :)

Heck, them Aussies are giving away 100 series steel wheels for free!

I would think 6.25" or 6" if measured from the back of the wheel. Not sure how Tru-Design would do it.

we have some pro comp alloys on the way here which are between the 80 and 100 offset, in 5 stud, to suit 100/tundra which we will be trying in the next few weeks, with 35 x 12.5 x 18 tyres with large side biters, these should be perfect for 100 over what we have been suing with 10mm less backspacing than a standard 100 alloy.

I think the alloys we are getting are a 5.4" backspace.

The goal was to get away from an alloy wheel and stick with a 16" wheel so that the tires were reasonable to purchase and available in rural America. Pull into a rural shop in Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, or Montana and try to get a 35" tire in a 17,18,20, or larger rim size. You'll grow a beard as big as Santas waiting for it to show up from California. Whereas 315/75/15s are fairly common in the truck world (Duramax, Cummins, Powerstroke). Even a 17 wouldn't be so terrible but you won't find those in Tundra allocations.

I agree, wasnt saying go alloy, but maybe someone could try the offset of one, or I will report back for you when ours arrive, as to how well the width, and offset work, for your steel wheels

Well I am just an innocent bystander but am curious....is the reason for this group buy just to get cheap steel wheels?

I guess when I first saw this the wheel that people would buy would be a replica of the OEM steel version they sell in other parts of the world...not meant to be a hi-jack just curious on everyones thinking...

You cannot source 16" Toyota steel wheels in the United States for the UZJ100 Land Cruisers. This is why they are going to do the group buy, since the company making the wheels would rather make more than one set. Usually this will result in a cost savings to the consumer or simply finding a hard to source part.
