Hello My fellow cruisers. I have really bad corrosion on my brake lines, one actually burst recently, and I was going to take a stab at bending my own. I wondered if anyone knew the size (3/16, 6mm....etc) for a 2005 Cruiser. And if anyone had any experience or tips that would be great!

Double flares are an art... you might want to get a pro to do it! Standard double flare on 3/16" line. You will want to buy the best double flare kit you can, and practice a dozen times first.

I would try it, is that's your thing. Don't skimp on the flare and bender. I would think that if you're at a point where you need $500 or more in OEM brake lines then you might come out ahead. If it's only for one line then I I think you'd be frustrated with 75 dollars in steel and a crappy 75 dollar flare/bender tool. Eastwood or utube may say it's easy, but it isn't.
I've made lots of oil, air, and fuel lines, but always LP JIC (AN). In spots where I've been stuck I went to a hydraulic shop and showed them what I needed for a special press fitting, they just won't or might not pressure test or cert it for you.
Being in anchorage I'm sure you could take it a boat yard, or hydraulic/fitting shop. Just like in the gulf states where we oilfield trash frequent.

Yes it is. Very good advice!

Even with the best flare kit, it still takes some practice.
