I have had this (problem???) for as long as I have woned the 80.
WHen the motor revs up at startup I have to push very hard to hold the brakes when I put it in gear.
When in low range I almost can hold the vehicle from moving when in gear.
Is this normal for the 80 or is my brake system weak?
I have replace the brakes and fluid so that part of the system should be ruled out.

1800 to 2000 rpms.
If you it is in low range with the start up revs, you can all but hold it back.
After a min or so the rpms drop and things are fine.
I know I can do fix the startup revs but I see no reason to do so at this time.
It must not hurt the motor as its still strong with 271k mi on it.
The startup revs and brakes issue not a real problem, its just I wanted to know if it normal on the 80?

Agreed. 1800-2000RPM is way too high.
