I will make this quick but I have a 1996 LC I just recently bought, just hit 115k on Sunday and its been taken care of very well.

This morning I went to start her up before work and it just clicked the first time almost as if the battery was dead. I turned it all the way off and removed the key, she started up the second time and it sounded pretty nasty. Also there is a pretty high pitched noise, not quite a squeak but pretty similar... just a high pitched loud noise really. I turned it off a minute later once I got out of the driveway to see if it would go away if I started it again. I started it back up, put it into drive and this time after hitting the gas a bit it nearly stalled out. I let off the gas, it idled back up and then drove fine, but the noise is still there and is loud enough that you cant hear the engine run.

I parked her back in the garage and got a ride from a friend, any ideas?

Sounds like your starter contacts are sticking causing your starter to stay engaged. I don't know about the stalling though.

Yeah that def sounds possible, especially considering it didn't even turn over the first couple tries... just clicked.

How do you fix or check and see if this is the case? Any easy way to get in there and check it?

The stalling was strange, I tried to take off and it just bogged down below 500rpm and tried to die... let off the gas and it came back to idle then ran fine. I will take it into the dealer reguardless I just thought maybe someone has had something similar happen before.

Can you post up a sound or video clip or the noise, like on youtube? Starter contacts are easy to fix, but it could be just a weak battery, or a loose/corroded connection at the battery or starter.

When I get home tonight I will get a video and upload it to youtube.... It almost sounds as if a bearing was going out in one of the pullys or something. Like a high pitch grinding that is just making a lot of noise... I have no idea whats going on. The fact that is did not turn over the first couple of trys was pretty strange too... i will post a link on here once I put the video up

alright guys... got an update. Got home tonight and started her up to get a video, cranked up immediately but I think the starter is still turning even after it starts. Weird wizzing noise like the starter spinning is still there, and it tried to stall out on me a couple of times only to start itself back up. So I try and turn it off.... it just starts cranking like crazy trying to re start with the keys in the off position. I turn it back on so its running, jump out grab a socket set and take the connection off the battery terminal which killed it.

Got the starting and stalling on video, here is the youtube link. What do yall think?

By the way toward the end when it revved up that was me.... but I then turn the keys off and that is when it starts cranking like crazy, so I turn the keys back to run and the engine starts running again.

Alright that makes sense, for what its worth I now cannot even connect the terminals back because it just trys to start up... haha even when the keys are in my pocket. Kinda creepy. Any idea on how much this will cost, looks like an easy fix but who knows.

The youtube clip tells the story; interesting. If just the contacts and plunger around $50 OEM parts from American Toyota if the pinion gear isn't chewed up. If you need a new starter go with a Toyota reman'd unit IMO.

Alright guys well since im already going to have to get under there and mess with it I went ahead and ordered a refurb 2.0kw denso starter and im just gonna replace the whole unit. Are there any other parts I will need to buy along with the starter or will everything just be plug and play? Never really played with these things before.

Is that a Toyota starter you've got coming? It should be plug and play unless a wire/connector is corroded or melted. Take some photos as you go and please open up the old starter's solenoid and get pics of that to show us what it looks like. FWIW here are three photos of partially worn contacts and plunger from a used but still functioning starter.
