Several people asked for this update post.
So for now I am mostly done and this is probably my last big project before I hit the road full time.
Mobile satellite internet.
At high speeds or particularly bad weather I'll still have to store the dish. I'm looking at mounting it flat permanently, but that's a pretty involved and possibly expensive job.
I routed the cable through the hole where the rear seatbelt used to be, across top of the hatch and up through the big rubber grommet where all the rear wiring goes into the tailgate. Finally through the 1 inch rubber grommet and up to the roof underneath that piece of black plastic trim under the rear spoiler. The proprietary ends of the cable were a little too big and I had to use a small pry to warp the metal a bit to get it to fit through but in all it wasn't too hard.
I ordered a a new plastic trim piece, the one that's under the spoiler because the seal on the old one was mostly dry rotted and using silicone made a big mess. Drilled a 5/8 inch hole in it and used a plastic grommet to secure it.
I put some plastic tubing and poly mesh on the cable to add some protection.
You may notice that I had the rear trim piece flipped over when I drilled it so the hole is actually on the side opposite of where I wanted it, but it worked out.
