Stainless Steel Exhaust System

So what is the latest advice on where to purchase a stainless steel exhaust system for a 1978 FJ40? My desire is to have it look and sound as close to original (except that it is stainless) as possible. I have read everything from local muffler shops to trying to replace with original equipment (non-stainless), but most of these posts are kind of old. Thanks in advance for any input, JMP.

no never did...i dont have the coin to get anything right now...and didnt want to lead them on that i was going to ....but i will be in the market over the summer possibly...depends on work and such

I know stainless exhaust is available for the muscle car market. That would be a great source for the tube, then find a shop to fix it to your fj...

My dad got stainless pipe from a farm supply place that puts in milking parlors. It was about half the price of the exhaust place. had it bent to fit and has been on there for about 8 years.

Home Run. I was going to post that folks could always contact a home town muffler shop to see if they stock, or can get 409 SS tubing. We use to make a 2.5" system to fit behind our Headers, but that was 1,000 years ago, and while we still sell the heck out of Headers, the exhaust system died from a lack of popularity.
