Great info. Peter thank you. Im just getting back into cruisers now. Can you tell me what you did to get that crawl ratio?

Marlin 4.7:1 Toybox. Every BJ74 should have one. It extends the drive train so that the front and rear drive-shafts are nearly the same length... perfect.

What he said. In fact, when I replace my crappy S/O with a right proper linked suspensions, I will fiddle with the axle spacing so that I do in fact have identical length front and rear drive shafts.

I do think that all Land Cruiser axles are too weak for any kind of serious wheeling. It's the skinny part on the knuckle and needs to be reinforced.

I have to be honest, I am not a big fan of the S/O. Off road, it's quite awesome in most situations. However the Pitman Arm and drag link interfere with the leaf spring. In extreme articulation, they can jam into each other, leaving you without steering until you tire droops away relieving the interference.

On the road, is where most of my complaints are with the S/O It's squatty under acceleration, divey during braking, and the roll axis is a screwed up making it rolly in the corners.

And of course, Axle wrap. I have a bam bar in the rear, but even my front springs are developing an S curve from the torque. Leaf springs are fine when under a wagon towed by oxen, but they are inferior technology to transfer torque to the ground. I concede that Ben-Hur had tons of fun on his leaf sprung chariot, but that's just not really my style.

Indeed, I would not recommend the Spring Over, and strongly recommend that people go directly to a properly linked suspension.

Marlin has not made those adapter for some time, Northwestfab is one for the h55 to black box.

Marlin stopped making H55F/splitcase toybox? I just bought one last year for my HZJ79.

well, good thing the 4:1 kit is out for the splitcase.

I think there was an interruption in the production of the H55f toybox but it is back in production again AFIK

4:1 doesn't seem possible in a splitcase. Is that the one that George is selling?

I just can't understand all of these guys who go to the trouble of producing something cool for Land Cruisers and then never officially advertising them. I don't think the H55f Toybox ever made it to Marlin's website and I don't see anything at all for H55fs on Northwest fab's.

NWF just built the first one and went out the door for testing, should be on the sight soon.

As for Marlins adapter, it was a couple years ago when I called and they were out of stock and was told they might not run another batch? Guess they did.

Your very right on the advertising, LAME....
