All,

does anybody know where I can get a spring pin assembly to weld onto my spindle housing for my rear tire carrier( to keep it open). Is this something I have to fab up or can you just buy them somewhere. I am looking for something like Slee has on hi rear tire carrier.

try Man-A-Fre!

I looked at there web site but did not see anything. This the the locking pin that holds the tire carrier open.

This seemed to be a good place to start contributing . I just purchased the very pin you are seeking from Slee Offroad. Its not listed as a seperate part on their web site, but is the same pin used on their rear bumper / tire carrier.
It is a stainless steel spring loaded pin that is built plenty stout , a real quality part.
Should be perfect for holding just about any tire carrier open.
Give them a call.

We used to use ones that are commercially available but had some issues. The one that we used on our bumper corroded since the sleave was not coated. It required regular maintenance to stop this from happening. Also, the pin was 1/2 and people either broke or bend them somehow.

We had some custom machined that uses a 3/4" pin. The whole assembly is made from stainless steel and the pin is hardened. They are not listed on the site, but they are for sale. Not cheap, but worth it in the end.

While doing maintenance on my pins (lubing the internals including pin)...I think I have the old ones...I noticed that one was bent. Christo, can I get these from you (if so, I'll remember to get one on my next order with you) or, if not, where can I get these pins?

Doug, you can get them from us. Just call or email and we can get them out to you.

Here is a picture of our fancy new Stainless ones.

how much are they going for ? they look nice might need 2 for my bumper as well!

Cool. I'll make a note to ask for it on my next order. :)

Safe to assume that it'll fit my ancient version of the bumper/tire carrier?

It's real easy. First you forget that your carrier is latched wide open while you sit in the truck. Then you forget that your little trailer is hitched on. Then you back up and jacknife the trailer into the tire carrier. Voila - busted pin. It ain't hard to do - it just takes eye/ hand co-ordination with the brain totally switched off.
