I have noticed, since I cleaned up my wheel bearing issues, that there was a clunking noise coming from the front end. Turns out its the leaf springs shifting around when I turn the wheels. Anyone have this problem before? would worn shackles cause this?

Cheers

I have the same problem, it's the shackles. I'm planning to replace them this week.

those bushings look shot...

They are totally gone!! I have a brand new box from MAF waiting. I know I have to take the weight off the springs to remove the bushings. Once the weight is off, how hard are the bushings to come off? Any precautions? Lift from the bumper and move the axle up and down with another jack?

I took my rig into a spring shop today and they didnt know much about this suspension, but it only made sense that was what it was. thanks for the confirmation. I am now going to have to look into how to do those.

All you need to do is jack up the corner you plan on working on (take the weight off the spring) and remove the bolt, and then remove the bushings. They sometimes can take some persuading to get out but nothing too difficult. Grease up the new ones a bit and replace the bolt... done. Repeat on other 3 corners. :)

Using jack stands while the rig is in the air is a must!
