@erymer and Stacy invited us to spend the night at their place Friday night. Met us just inside Corolla and showed us all the ropes and a great time in Corolla!!

We are extremely grateful to get to spend the night with the whole Rymer family, hang out and talk, drink some beer, BBQ and see tons of cool stuff including wild horses in the area!

Wild horse right next to the house:

Eric and Stacy took us to the border with VA and got to see that. I'm not sure the picture was really "welcome" given a detailed review, but I will take it down if not :)

BTW - I think if the Rymers or maybe several folks here wanted to make a living pulling people out of the sand in Corolla . . it could be done. From the sounds of it, they helped out >7 people this week - we go to witness one - huge Ford with huge lift and huge tires, but a very tiny . . . . . transfer case.

Jamie we were so glad you guys were able to join us. It's always nice to share some of the things we enjoy with others. You've got a wonderful family and we are so glad we got to sit chat and of course eat with you guys. Hurricane MO's in Kitty Hawk is my new fav. Lol.

Spent my college days lifeguarding for the park service in Buxton & Frisco. Some amazing memories there... if you walk the beach at night, you can see the mole crabs swimming around in the water as the waves wash away their burrows at the shore. They glow from eating the bioluminescent algae and hundreds of them swimming in different directions looks like a mini fireworks display at your feet.

The Orange Blossom bakery in Buxton for a cup of coffee and an apple ugly was the perfect way to start your day.

From the looks of it, most of the issues were happening at the entrance.

For those who have not been, Corolla has no paved roads past here:

Google Maps

The Tundra did fine, but it was more aggressive than I expected :) One bad turn or stupid move could have been me digging out or begging Eric and Stacy for help :) Next time we go we will have a shovel and some form of traction device like a tire mat or MaxTrax.

People out there in lil AWD things like Rav4, etc. getting stuck like crazy.

@erymer has a great pic of a sport car out there - forgot make, but it was high end.

Lol...

When the wife and I honeymooned in Nags Head in 2015 we had her CRV,
Not going to lie I was a little hesitant but once I saw a Subaru I got up the courage but knew I didn't want to stop in soft sand. We did fine but I left the trans in second and revs were high.

Looking back if you could air down it makes an unbelievable difference. At least for me and my Tacoma.

We have a week booked on Ocracoke at a VRBO the week in May before Memorial Day. We should be in the hundy.

She is looking forward to driving it in the beaches!
