Not affiliated, just browsing around, and saw what looks like a nice 40th anniversary edition in Charlotte. Cars.com: 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser

Extensive carfax report in that listing, and looks like the vehicle was well maintained (accident reported one month after initial lease/purchase).

Wasn't someone recently looking for a good 80?

Lol. You just buy your land cruiser and wreck it less than 4 weeks later. 10k is a little steep for an 80. Especially a previously wrecked one.

It didn't state it had lockers.

I have spoken to the seller. Yes it is locked. He had sent me more pics and it is very straight. I tried to explain that $10k was a little steep for the amount of miles on it and even showed him lower mileage vehicles for less than $10k. He isn't biting, yet. He is not in a hurry until March or so, when his 4runner comes off lease.

I really want to check it out, but I do not want to make the 3 hour trip (one way) if he is set at $10k.

NCDuckman! Welcome. I'm guessing you are down east? Post up.

I have a friend who is looking for his first cruiser and this may fit the ticket if the price was around $7k. The accident one month into ownership doesn't bother me as long as the title doesn't show more than 25% damage. The good thing about a wreck one month into it being new is that the damage was probably mended well with the help of collission insurance.

Did the seller give anymore info? Has it been wheeled or does it burn oil?

HI!

I am in Durham, NC. Anyhow, from what I understand, it has not been wheeled and is primarily a garage/commuting queen. The seller has not used the lockers and I had to explain what they were for. It has been maintained at Victory Toyota in Hickory.

If the price was in the $7k range, it would already be in my driveway. He claimed that he was contacted by a buyer in VA that had no problem with the price and wanted an "expedition vehicle" for his company. That doesn't help the lower price cause at all.

That is all I know. Feel free to contact the seller for more info. If your buddy gets it for $7k I will be surprised and a bit PO'd. The seller seemed content to wait, as far as I could tell. Time, of course, will change that.

That looks like a good deal.

The only reservation I would have on that one is, according to the Carfax, it was a rental car for the first 5 years of its life (67,000 miles). It appears to only have one other owner after that. I do not know how car rental companies maintain their vehicles, but I do know how their customers treat them.

Well, I guess the Ebay one in GA just sold, for $5700. Either the seller lowered the Buy it now price, or someone made an offer?

Next!
