Took the family out to Anza-Borrego this weekend to check out the Split Mountain / Fish Creek / Sandstone Canyon area. I had never been out to that section, but had heard a lot about it.

We camped out near the entrance to Fish Creek Wash at the end of Split Mountain Road, and then the next day took a leisurely and scenic drive through Fish Creek Wash to check out the trail. My favorite part was Sandstone Canyon. It's a beautiful narrow slot canyon to explore.

Very easy trail, but very scenic. We had a nice time, and the kids wanted to climb every rock or hill we stopped at.

Did you see the Anticline in Fish Creek. Oops, I can now see the Anticline in post three now that I'm off my phone and on a real puter
Also the Wind caves are off of Fish Creek for next time you visit.
And if you come in from the 8 Fwy you can drop into Fish Creek via Diablo Drop Off.
Love that area of Borrego as well.

Thanks for sharing. I am headed out there this Thurs - Sunday and will probably hike to the wind caves and check out Sandstone canyon on Friday.

I had to search "Anticline". We did see that, but we didn't know what it was called at the time.

We saw the trailhead for the Wind Caves, and the kids wanted to do it, but I recently blew out my knee (torn ACL and meniscus), so that will be a good excuse to get back out there post-surgery.

Great pics, thanks for taking the time to share. Did you see a reduction in glare with the (Duraback?) treatment on the hood?

Yeah, thanks for sharing, It has been a while since I've been down to Anza Borrego. Question about the cargo net, what brand is it? (can you provide measurements?)

The pics are awesome! I've near been to that area of Anza Borrego, but after seeing how great it looks I have to go.

We had a lot of fun. The cargo net is by Raingler. I picked it up from someone in the classifieds earlier this year. www.raingler.com I will try to get measurements sometime this weekend.

Over to the North of Calcite mine across the valley is a similar canyon but its just a hiking one. I was just out to it at New Years.

HE-MAN!

Beam me up Scottie!

Mark, that looks like a fun area too. Adding to the list.....

A little bit. My paint wasn't super reflective to start, but it helps some. I bought my first 80 from someone in Colorado and he had put Line-X to reduce the glare from the snow. After we unfortunately wrecked it and I picked up this one, I wanted to do the same (although I used Durabak on this one).

We just camped out there the weekend before Christmas with my son's Boy Scout Troop. We did a day hike around and thru "The Slot" which are the slot canyon's off of Hwy 78 then drove down and set up camp off of Fish Creek Road near the trailhead to the wind caves and did another hike up into the wind caves. Unfortunately, I didn't get much wheeling in.. but it was nice and couldn't have asked for better weather with no wind.
