My 200 LC has split CV boot, just ripped, so looks to be clean inside. Anyone able to find the split boots you put on so you don't have to pull the axle. This of course is only an option if the axle is not contaminated.

160k on truck and may not be keeping a lot longer, so don't want to sink a ton into the truck.

BTW; I have the skills, but not the time to do the complete axle.

Thanks

boot replacement is about 2 hours for the first timer.

Any auto parts store is going to carry universal split boots but in my experience they only delay the inevitable.

if the cut isnt terrible sometimes RTV can be used to seal it up, but that has worked for me maybe a quarter of the time.

Best bet is to spend the $30 and get a new boot kit or even better buy a new cv and boot kit so you have a spare and can reboot the extra at your leisure. My 2000 has gone through two boots, one on each side recently and the above process made it much easier to deal with the 2nd time.
